Vanessa Rousso Doubles Up

Rousso: no longer shortest stack
Rousso: no longer shortest stack
Having gained a few chips in less dramatic fashion, Vanessa Rousso has now topped 200,ooo courtesy of ElkY and a low flop. She raised preflop, and picked up Bertrand Grospellier for the {2-Clubs} {5-Spades} {5-Diamonds} flop. Now he bet out 22,000, and she moved all in for around 100,000. The rail held its breath as he deliberated and eventually called with {8-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} . She turned over {A-Spades} {A-Hearts} , but only allowed herself a very muted celebration when the {A-Clubs} sealed the deal on the turn.

Devilfish Hooked

ElkY wonders if Dave will by his book 'Kill Elky'
ElkY wonders if Dave will by his book 'Kill Elky'
Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliott is the 16th place finisher, after he got his 63k stack in preflop wtih {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs} vs. Bertrand Grospellier's {A-Spades} {J-Clubs} . It got better before it got worse - he hit the {K-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {7-Hearts} flop.

But the turn...{J-Diamonds}
The river...{J-Spades}

The rail went, "OOOooohhh" and Devilfish went home.

Shak Busto

Shak Shook
Shak Shook
Dan Shak, having made a couple of stabs at raisers with shoves of a not tiny stack, finally got into an all in preflop on-their-backs situation with Tony G. It wasn't a good one for him - Tony G had reraised him preflop with {A-?} {K-?} and his {A-?} {J-?} went nowhere with the board.

Down to 16 players in the High Rollers event - half of them will make the money.

Diamonds Are for Eldar

Double up for David Eldar just now. He check-raised a {3-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} flop vs. Lev Myrmsky and the whole 150k ended up all in with his tournament hanging on his {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} draw vs. Myrmsky's {K-Hearts} {K-Spades} . The turn came the {4-Spades} but the river was the {8-Diamonds} at which Myrmsky briefly exploded into a frustrated run of syllables I had no understanding of. His rail sympathised.

Eldar said to Florian Langmann, "That was probably a bad check-raise. He looked pretty strong. Still - I needed the chips!"

Tony G Makes Small Dent in Alaei's Towers

Alaei: Still chipped up
Alaei: Still chipped up
Daniel Alaei limped preflop, and then called the 16,500 Tony G made it on the button. They both quickly checked the {7-Hearts} {K-Spades} {8-Clubs} flop. On the {3-Diamonds} turn, Alaei bet out 14,300. Tony G thought for a while, did some staring, and made the call. Another quick check on the {5-Spades} river and Tony G found his {A-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} to be good. Tony G then put in an order for a full double through, but I don't think this was accepted.

Giuetti Getting the Lot

That double through seems to have turned a lightbulb on over Anthony Giuetti's head and put a heater under his cards - now over 225k he's one of the dark horses in the High Rollers tournament who's now moving up the chip table.

Just now he won a sizeable pot off ElkY: He called his under the gun raise to 10k along with John Kabbaj in the big blind. Kabbaj and ElkY checked the {6-Spades} {9-Spades} {K-Spades} flop and Giuetti bet 19k. ElkY made the call. They both checked the {10-Diamonds} turn, but on the river ElkY check-called another bet (around 45k), but mucked when Giuetti tabled {K-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} .

Take a Haik

Giuetti: Two short stacks' worth of chips now
Giuetti: Two short stacks' worth of chips now
Following recent bustout Juha Helppi is Eric Haik. He'd kept his short stack afloat for a long time, picking the right spots, it seemed to shove over preflop raisers (he even got William Thorson passing deuces). Recently Anthony Giuetti had given him a taste of his own medicine moving all-in over the top of Haik's preflop raise. A countdown occurred, but no call.

With this recent background, and with the hands they were dealt next, it was no surprise that an all-in confrontation occurred between Haik's {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds} and Giuetti's {9-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} . Giuetti hit the {J-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {7-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} extra hard too, and a resigned Haik left the table with a sad smile.
