Action opened with an under-the-gun shove by Kalle Niemi for 253,000. Around the table each player folded in turn, until action was on chip leader Dragan Galic in the small blind. He made the call, and after the big blind Ovi Balaj folded, we were at showdown.
Niemi:
Galic:
Galic was trying again with ace-deuce, and again he was dominated. The board ran out to give Niemi a bit of life at 563,000 chips.
A few hands later, Galic opened the pot for 80,000, but had to fold when Niemi reraised all in behind him.
Rather inactive at our pre-final table so far is Ovidiu Balaj, He raised to 80,000 and, not wanting to tangle, everyone passed and let him take their blinds and antes.
Chip daddy Dragan Galic raised to 80,000, and teeny tiny stack Pierre Neuville's all in push for 164,000 barely constituted a minimum raise. The obvious call, and the consequent showdown.
Galic:
Neuville:
Board:
The seven played and Neuville is now a little less desperate on around 340,000.
William Reynolds and Alex Fitzgerald saw a flop of . Reynolds bet 124,000 and Fitzgerald decided to make the call.
Turn:
Reynolds bet 192,000. Again, a flat call from Fitzgerald, and we got to see a river.
River:
Reynolds decided to stop messing about and announced that he was all in for 1,351,000. Only a few seconds were needed for Fitzgerald to make his decision -- he passed, and we continue nine-handed.
Constant Rijkenberg raised his button and Dragan Galic, in the small blind, was the only caller.
They saw a flop and Galic bet out 110,000. Rijkenberg immediately made it 300,000 and, without a pause, Galic called.
Turn:
Fast as FerricRamsay heading for the buffet, Galic checked. Rijkenberg bet 400,000 and Galic called. Just like that.
River:
Again, Galic checked and this time Rijkenberg bet a terrifying 500,000. Now Galic took a moment to think about it. Then he thought some more. Then he called.
Galic turned over -- and Rijkenberg, looking as though he might throw up, just mucked.
Galic's stack is now more monstrous than it's ever been. After raking in this 2,613,000 pot, he's up to 3,805,000. Rijkenberg is down to 1,088,000.
It didn't take long for the big stacks to start mixing it up. On the first hand after the redraw, Dragan Galic opened for 90,000. Gustav Sundell was sitting in the small blind. When action passed to him, he reraised to 230,000. Galic quickly called to a flop of . Sundell made a very quick and very strong bet of 300,000. Galic mulled things over for a bit before surrendering. He may also have surrendered the chip lead.
Only eight of these warriors will be coming back tomorrow. Note - Dragan Galic, chip leader at the start of every day since we started this epic tournament, is back in the lead as they fight it out for spots at the final table.
Dragan Galic has just claimed another victim in Italian Gianni Giaroni, setting the stage for our unofficial nine-handed final table.
Action folded around to Galic in the small blind who made it 60,000 to go. Giaroni then moved all in for approximately 450,000. Galic made the call and the hands were revealed:
Giaroni:
Galic:
The board filled out and Galic's ace-high reigned supreme, cementing Giaroni's exit from the Main Event.
Galic now has well over two million in chips and counting.
