Jeff Sarwer raised under the gun to 1,500 and was called by the player on the button. The big blind also came along to the flop of .
The big blind checked and then Sarwer fired a continuation bet of 2,600. The button called and the big blind folded.
The turn was the , pairing the board. Sarwer checked and the button checked behind.
The river was the and Sarwer checked again. The button fired 2,250 and Sarwer folded his hand. His opponent showed only the for at least trip aces and Sarwer nodded his head.
We arrived midway through the action, but it looked as though Vicky Coren limped under the gun and Stuart Fox (who deserves an apology after this blogger failed to recognize him - he was wearing a hat!) seemed to have limped in the hijack as well. In the cutoff Arnaud Mattern made it 2,400 to go. The gentleman in the big blind called and Coren called too - but back to Fox, and he made it 11,525 to go. Mattern instantly moved all in for around 38,000. Mr. Big Blind and Coren folded quickly, and back around to Fox, who thought about it...
...And then called.
Fox:
Mattern: not looking so hot with
Board:
Mattern was giggling hysterically as he left. Fox meanwhile is up to 75,000.
It folded around to the gentleman in the small blind who raised to 1,400. In the small blind Cristiano Blanco, who looked somehow vaguely forlorn, quietly pushed his whole 11,000 stack across the line. Mr. Small Blind thought about it for some time but eventually passed. Blanco looked neither happy nor sad about this.
Ben Kang, Andy Finke and another player all saw a flop; Kang checked, the third player bet, Finke called, and then Kang called too.
All three players checked the turn, and then they checked the river too. Mr. Third Player turned over and Kang mucked as soon as he saw it, but Finke turned over pocket and the pot went to him.
Juha Helppi continued his downward trend, but it was nice of him to double up fellow-pro Michael Keiner. Helppi opened to 1,000 from the cutoff, and Keiner reraised to 3,000 from the small blind. Helppi paid to see the flop. Keiner only had 6,725 left, which he swiftly moved into the middle. "I guess I have to call now, since I called pre," said Helppi.
Showdown
Helppi:
Keiner:
The turn and river changed nothing, and Keiner lived to play another hand. Helppi still has around 50,000.
Vicky Coren was heads up on a flop. Her opponent bet out, and Coren called. The turn was the suspicious . Her opponent moved all in for 14,600. Coren thought about it for a minute before making the call with . She needed either an ace, a jack, or a deuce to beat the other player's . The river was the , dropping Coren down to around 45,000.
The young gentleman on the button raised to 1,050k, only for a still rather spooked-looking [Removed:197] to make it 2,775 from the small blind. Mr. Button called and they saw a flop.
Flop:
[Removed:198] bet out 1,975 - and Mr. Button gave it up right there without a fight.
