Teng Trounced

We're not sure how it happened, but we found Andrew Teng in the unenviable position of all in against aces. Teng got his last 11,000 in with {A-?} {J-?} against pocket rockets. The board brought the case ace but no miracle for Teng, and he's got the rest of the day off in Berlin.

Ilya Not Well

Downhill Gorodetskiy-ing
Downhill Gorodetskiy-ing
Editor of PokerNews UK & Europe magazine Ilya Gorodetskiy is in some trouble.

With around 5,000 in the pot by the river of the {7-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} board, the young gentleman in the small blind bet out 3,725. Over in the hijack Gorodetskiy thought about it for some time before deciding against the call and quietly pushing his cards back to the dealer.

He's down to around 16,000.

Nasr Spooked

So good they named him twice
So good they named him twice
The gentleman in the hijack opened for 1,100 and [Removed:197] made it 2,900 from the small blind. Mr. Hijack called, and they saw a flop.

After the excitement pre, the action rather disappointingly evaporated into almost nothing, as both players checked the {10-Spades} {9-Spades} {Q-Hearts} flop and then the {2-Clubs} turn. [Removed:198] checked the {2-Hearts} river too and this time Mr. Hijack bet 3,500. [Removed:198] folded, and the pot went to the hijack.

[Removed:198] looked vaguely spooked after this, although this could just be a lack of coffee.

De Mel Escapes a Quadding

We caught up with Priyan De Mel on the river of the {A-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} board. There was 7,000 in the pot already and Priyan was on the button with a bet of 3,500 in front of him, contemplating what looked like a check-raise to 10,000 from his under-the-gun opponent. He contemplated for a long time before folding - and was rewarded by his opponent turning over an extremely, unnecessarily nutty {A-Clubs} {A-Spades} for quads.

De Mel is down to a still above-average 39,000 after that.

Lellouche Gets Some Chips Back

Antony Lellouche raised from the hijack seat to 450. The cutoff seat then three-bet to 1,150. Lellouche checked to see if his opponent had him covered, which he did, and then four-bet to 3,000. The player made the call.

The two players took a flop of {A-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Lellouche checked. His opponent fired 4,600 and Lellouche called.

The turn added the {9-Clubs} to the board and both players checked.

The river was the {Q-Hearts} and Lellouche fired just 2,000. His opponent looked like he didn't want to call, but tossed in the chips anyway. Lellouche showed the {A-Clubs}{4-Spades} for a pair of aces and his opponent mucked.

Lellouche moved up to 30,000 chips after dropping some and is back on the starting stack.

Coren Wimps Out

Vicky Coren
Vicky Coren
Action was checked to Vicky Coren on the board of {9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}. She fired 3,500 and her opponent called. The river was then the {10-Spades} and her opponent checked.

"If I check behind, I'm such a girl," said Coren. "I do this sometimes when I have way the best hand."

"All right, I check," said Coren a moment later.

Her opponent tabled the {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a rivered pair of tens after flopping a flush draw. Coren held the {9-Spades}{6-Spades} for two pair and the best hand.

"I guess I should have bet," she said as the pot was pushed her way. She's now on 46,000 chips.

Who's Doing Badly?

After his happy early double up, king of the EPT side events Martin Kabrhel has failed to further increase his stack and is in fact back down to the 30,000 he started with. He looks terribly unhappy about it.

On the other hand, things could be worse - he could be actually busto like, for instance, Dragan Galic. "Three big hands," was all Mr. Galic could bring himself to tell us about his tournament demise. "I go play some side events now."

Bansi Movin' Up

On the flop of {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{7-Spades}, one player checked to Praz Bansi and he fired 700. His opponent called. The turn added the {2-Hearts} to the board and the first player checked again. Bansi fired 1,800 this time and his opponent check-raised to 4,800. Bansi took a minute and then made the call.

The river completed the board with the {10-Diamonds} and the first player fired out 7,000. Bansi tanked and after a bit, asked his opponent what he had.

"What do you have?" asked Bansi, before the player removed his right earphone to better hear him. "You have a full house?" The player then put his earphone back in and didn't say a word.

After another minute or two went by, Bansi tossed in the chips for the call. His opponent tossed his hand into the muck and Bansi didn't have to show, as is the rules on the EPT. Bansi moved up to 55,000.

Thus Spake the River

Dominik Nitsche is in some serious trouble.

Already down more than half his stack at the start of the hand, Nitsche saw a {6-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} flop with two other players. The first player checked and the second bet 1,200, which Nitsche called from the button. The first player folded, and they went heads up to the turn.

The turn was the {3-Spades} and Nitsche's opponent bet out another 1,200; Nitsche called that too. They saw a {Q-Hearts} river and this time Mr. Opponent bet out 2,000. Nitsche went to call, then paused, checked his hole cards again, and then tossed in the call - only to laugh and muck when Mr. Opponent turned over {Q-Clubs} {8-Clubs}.

Nitsche is down to just 5,300 now.
