MacPhee Wins One

From under the gun, Kevin MacPhee raised to 115,000. Marko Neumann called from the small blind and then Marc Inizan called from the big blind.

The three players saw the flop come down {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and everyone checked. The turn card added the {A-Spades} to the board and the first two players checked. MacPhee fired 245,000 and both his opponents folded.

Double-Double for Amendola

Thank you poker gods, Amen.
Thank you poker gods, Amen.
Alfonso Amendola shoved under the gun for his newly-doubled 900,000 and newly-chipped-up Artur Wasek called. On their backs.

Amendola: {A-Hearts} {6-Spades}
Wasek: dominating with {A-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}

But wait!

Board: {9-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {6-Diamonds}

With very loud celebratory cries of, "YESSSS!!!" and the like, Amendola doubled again to around 1.9 million. Wasek dipped back to 4.3 million.

Paul Thomas Otto Eliminated in 12th Place (€40,000)

Paul Thomas Otto - 12th Place
Paul Thomas Otto - 12th Place
Artur Wasek raised to 110,000 from the button, and Paul Thomas Otto made it 275,000 from the big blind. There was a lengthy and multilingual discussion as Wasek (who doesn't speak a word of English or German) attempted to ascertain how many chips Otto had - Mr. Otto has been stacking his chips in pyramids constructed of stacks of four chips each. It was eventually decided that Otto had around 1.7 million. This was then translated into Polish by helpful blogger Piotr Majewski. Wasek flat-called.

They saw a {3-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} flop and Otto bet out 130,000. Wasek raised to 400,000, Otto pushed, Wasek called and they were on their backs.

Otto: {A-Clubs} {8-Spades} for two overcards
Wasek: {K-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} for a flush draw

Turn: {2-Diamonds} leaving Otto drawing dead ("I'm dead," he said)

River: an irrelevant {2-Hearts}

Wasek moved on up to over 5 million.

Neumann Causing Problems for MacPhee

Kevin MacPhee has run rings around most of the players all day, but he's had some trouble in the last level with Marko Neumann. In one hand, Neumann raised to 115,000 on the button, and MacPhee defended his big blind. The flop came {Q-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {8-Hearts}, and both checked. The turn was the {J-Hearts}, and MacPhee checked again. Neumann bet 100,000, and MacPhee paide to see the river. MacPhee checked a third street after the {2-Diamonds}, then called 125,000-bet. Neumann tabled {10-Clubs} {3-Clubs} for the turned straight, and MacPhee rapped the table.

A few minutes later, the two got involved again. MacPhee made it 115,000, and it was Neumann's turn to defend his big blind. Neumann bet 130,000 at the {J-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {6-Spades} flop, and Kevin called. Both checked the {10-Clubs} on the turn to see the {7-Diamonds} on the river for free. Neumann made it 200,000 to get to showdown, and MacPhee decided not to pay this time.

Two Ladies for Two Guys

Norman Kaster raised to 125,000, and Marko Neumann made it 300,000 to go. Short stack Luca Cainelli announced he was all in, and Kaster folded sadly. Neumann instantly called, turning over {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}. And Cainelli tabled {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades}. The flop brought two diamonds, but no cruel four-flush came to eliminate Cainelli, and they chopped the pot.

Raise, Reraise, and Take It

Pretty standard pattern emerging here. On one table, Ilari Tahkokallio raised from the cutoff to 115,000. Marc Inizan reraised his big blind to 375,000, and Tahkokallio gave it up.

Meanwhile, over on the other table, Ketul Nathwani made it 115,000. Then Marcel Koller bumped it to 325,000, and Nathwani folded.

Evgeniy Zaytsev Eliminated in 13th Place (€30,000)

Paul Thomas Otto opened from under the gun to 100,000. Evgeniy Zaytsev moved all in from the button for 910,000. Action moved to Ketul Nathwani in the big blind and he reraised all in. Otto folded and left the other two to do battle.

Zaytsev held the {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}, but was dominated by Nathwani's {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}.

The board was dealt out {7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and Nathwani earned the elimination of Zaytsev. For his finish, Zaytsev earned €30,000 for his finish.
