Top Two Pair for Zaytsev

Evgeniy Zaytsev
Evgeniy Zaytsev
On the board of {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}, Ketul Nathwani checked to Evgeniy Zaytsev, who fired 135,000. Nathwani made the call.

The river was the {8-Hearts} and Nathwani checked again. Zaytsev fired 280,000 and after a couple minutes in the tank, Nathwani called. Zaytsev revealed the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for top two pair and scooped the pot.

Check-shove with Just a Gutshot

Marcel Koller raised to 90,000 and then Nico Behling reraised to 200,000. Koller was in the cutoff seat and Behling was on the button. Koller then four-bet to 370,000. Opting to see a flop in position, Behling made the call.

The flop came down {J-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Koller checked. Behling fired 310,000 and Koller moved all in for roughly 1.1 million. Behling insta-mucked and Koller jumped from his chair, tabled the {K-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and walked away from the table to pace back and forth. He didn't cheer or yell, but you could tell he was screaming about his play on the inside.

Evgeniy Zaytsev chimed in, "Wow, wow, wow! I don't like this table -- ace high calling, king high pushing, wow, wow, wow!"

Otto Doubles with Ace-High

Meanwhile on the other table Paul Thomas Otto raised to 80,000 on the button and got looked up by Nico Behling in the big blind to see a {6-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {K-Diamonds} flop, which both players checked.

They saw a {3-Hearts} turn and this time Behling bet out 155,000. Otto called, and they saw the {6-Spades} river. This time Behling bet out 1.375 million, enough to cover Otto, who eventually called all in.

Otto flipped {A-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} for nothing more than ace-high. Behling went to muck, but was forced to show his {Q-?} {7-?}. Oops.

More Chips for MacPhee

On the flop of {8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{7-Clubs}, Kevin MacPhee checked to Norman Kastner. He bet 120,000 and MacPhee called.

The turn brought the {4-Spades} and both players checked. The river completed the board with the {2-Clubs} and MacPhee fired 265,000. His opponent Kastner mucked his hand and MacPhee raked in the chips.

Ilya Gorodetskiy Eliminated in 16th Place (€25,000)

Marc Inizan raised to 90,000 under the gun and Ilya Gorodetskiy shoved for 750,000. While a bunch of Russians at the rail, including Alex Kravchenko and Mikhail Tulchinskiy, were loudly relating tales of how they ran away from the robbers and giggling, their boy was suddenly at risk - Inizan made the call.

Inizan: {A-Hearts} {J-Spades}
Gorodetskiy: {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs}

Board: {Q-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {2-Spades}

The Russians were suddenly struck dumb as Gorodetskiy was outdrawn and headed to the rail.

"Shut Up!" Works for Amendola

Evgeniy Zaytsev opened to 75,000 from the cutoff, and Alfonso Amendola moved all in from the big blind for just 330,000. He'd just been crippled by doubling up Ketul Nathwani. Zaytsev called.

Showdown
Zaytsev: {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}
Amendola: {10-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}

Zaytsev's large Russian rail was screaming for kings and queens. "Shut up!" shouted Amendola. The flop came {6-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {3-Clubs}. More calling for paint. "Shutttt uppp!" The turn was the {9-Diamonds}. Cheering continues. Yelling "shut up" continues. The river was the {Q-Diamonds}, and at first Amendola thought he was out. Then he noticed his four flush and celebrated his double up by shaking hands with the railers who had called for his very helpful queen. Amendola is up to over 700,000. Zaytsev is down to 1.3 million.

Preflop Battle for Chips

In the later stages of tournaments, picking up the blinds and antes to add them to your stack is a crucial part of tournament poker. In the last 20 minutes or so, there has been a series of raises preflop, but other players at the table are fighting back with three-bets. Some of those three-bets are even being four-bet and the constant fight for chips in preflop action heats up.

Here's a look at some recent hands where this has happened.

Evgeniy Zaytsev raised to 88,000 from the cutoff seat and then Artur Wasek reraised from the button to 200,000 to win the pot.

Kevin MacPhee raised from under the gun to 88,000 before Stefan Huber reraised to 206,000 from the cutoff seat. Marko Neumann was in the small blind and four-bet shoved. MacPhee and Huber both folded.

Marcel Koller raised to 85,000 from middle position and folded after Carsten Joh three-bet to 200,000 from the button.

Stefan Huber raised to 80,000 from the hijack and then Norman Kastner three-bet from the cutoff to 255,000 and won the pot.

Carsten Joh raised from middle position to 95,000 and then Paul Thomas Otto reraised all in from the small blind. Everyone folded and Otto was pushed the pot.
