Romanello Widening the Gap

We picked up the action for this hand on the river, so it's a tad incomplete, but still worth noting. It would appear that Roberto Romanello was the preflop raiser from under the gun, and Janne Nevalainen made the call from the button.

We caught up live on the river as the board showed {3-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}, and a pot of close to 100,000 chips was up for grabs. Romanello checked, and Nevalainen put out a bet of 35,000. Mr. Chip Leader then snuck in a check-raise to 85,000, and Nevalainen muttered to himself and called.

Romanello showed up {A-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} for aces up, and he knew it was good by his opponent's immediate reaction. Nevalainen grumbled a bit more and stared at his cards before flashing his {Q-Spades} {8-Diamonds} and sending them into the muck.

"Queen-eight," Romanello half-asked. "Nice hand." With that, the Welshman increases his chip lead significantly. His chip pyramid is far too complicated to count quickly, but he's pushing right up against 800,000 after that pot.

Turmezey Busto

Peter Turmezey, still short even after cracking Vitor Pinho's aces, has finally succumbed.

The action folded around to Peter Eastgate in the small blind holding {A-?} {9-?}, and he raised to cover Turmezey. Turmezey called all in with {K-?} {3-?} suited, but Eastgate flopped a nine and a complete absence of kings thereafter on the turn or river sent Turmezey home a few places outside the money.

Klein Stack Gets Bigger

Morten Klein open-shoved from the hijack and was eventually called by a sighing Juha Helppi in the small blind.

Klein: {6-Spades} {9-Spades}
Helppi: {K-Spades} {Q-Spades}

Board: {2-Clubs} {4-Spades} {J-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {7-Hearts}

"YESSSSS!!!" shouted Klein and fist-pumped several times. Helppi immediately started ranting in Finnish at someone at the rail. Double up.

Announcement

TD Thomas Kremser: "To everyone inside the tournament area. This are is only for press. If you are not press, please leave the area and watch from outside."
Peter Hedlund: "Are you press?"
TK: "Yes. Are you press?"
PH: "Yes."
TK: "Come on, we are both press. Let us go together."

He linked arms with Hedlund and attempted to lead him away from his table.

Teng Calls Rasmussen's Bluff

Andrew Teng raised to 10,000 in the hijack, only for Jacob Rasmussen to make it 30,000 from the cutoff. It folded back around to Teng, who spent a long time sitting very still and presumably staring Rasmussen down from behind his sunglasses. Then he four-bet to 59,300.

"How much you got?" asked Rasmussen. The answer was 270,000, a little more than Rasmussen's 230,000. He spent a long time doing nothing. Then he announced all in.

Back to Teng, who finally took his sunglasses off. After a moment he called.

Teng: {10-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}
Rasmussen: completely at it with {6-Clubs} {8-Spades}

Board: an incredibly decisive {J-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {10-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}

Rasmussen is bust, and Teng is up to 500,000.

Color Up and Break

We don't expect to have breaks after every level today, but we need one now. Those pesky black T100 chips have to go, so the players are taking a 15-minute stroll while the staff takes care of that housekeeping item.

Back in a flash.
