Pinho's Aces Cracked

Peter Turmezey open-shoved in mid position with {K-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} and must have been absolutely horrified when Vitor Pinho called on the button and flipped over {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts}. But the poker gods move in mysterious ways, and by the end of the {8-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} board Turmezey had made a flush to double up, while Pinho just shook his head in disgust.

Three-Way All In Madness

Wow, they are dropping like flies out there. We've just witnessed our second three-way preflop all-in showdown.

It folded around to Asger Boye on the button who open-shoved. In the small blind Martin Mortensen decided his hand was good enough to call - and in the big blind Janne Nevalainen decided the all ins weren't for enough to make him fold.

Boye: {A-Clubs} {8-Diamonds}
Mortensen: {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}
Nevalainen: {A-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}

Board: {10-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} ... {K-Clubs}

Nevalainen made the broadway straight and both his opponents hit the rail. At this rate we'll be out of here by teatime.

Au Revoir, Annette

We're out of women here at EPT Copenhagen. Annette Obrestad was the only one left this afternoon, and she didn't bother to hang around for too long, unfortunately.

Big stack Fabian Gentile was absent from his big blind for this fateful hand, and Jesper Petersen opened with a raise to 8,000 from early position. Obrestad had just a bit over 100,000 left in front of her, and she reraised all in over the top. Petersen thought it over for several minutes before making the call for most of his own stack.

Showdown
Petersen: {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}
Obrestad: {K-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}

The dealer would frown on Obrestad and her overcards as the board ran down {J-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {A-Spades} {7-Spades}. Just like that, her day is done, and we've got 67 men left in the room.

Ten Takes Care of Two

Tim Pedersen moved his short stack into the middle preflop, and David Adelskov made the call. When the action came around to Christian Miralles, he too called all in for his entire stack, two players now at risk.

Showdown
Pedersen: {3-?} {3-?}
Adelskov: {10-?} {10-?}
Miralles: {A-?} {A-?}

Everyone's got a pair. Miralles' pocket aces are looking good until the river, but the board of {K-?} {2-?} {4-?} {Q-?} {10-?} ultimately marked his exit, and that of Pedersen as well. Adelskov finds his two-out set, knocking off two of his opponents and moving up over the 250,000-chip mark.

Romanello Vying for Chip Lead

A considreable pot had formed by the time we joined Roberto Romanello checking the turn of a {Q-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} board in the cutoff.

The action moved over to Simon Nybo on the button. With a flourish, he bet 45,000. Back to Romanello, and after a moment's pause, he announced all in to cover Nybo. And after another moment, Nybo called.

Nybo: {A-Spades} {Q-Hearts} for top two pair
Romanello: {K-Hearts} {J-Clubs} for the broadway straight

River: {10-Clubs}

With that, Nybo's tournament hopes evaporated across the felt. Romanello meanwhile is in serious contention for the chip lead, on over 550,000, his immense stack spreading right across both his seat at the table and the one formerly occupied by Mr. Nybo.

Here Comes Day 3

It's awfully quiet inside the Casino Copenhagen as a few members of the media and tournament staff are mulling about, silently preparing for the day. This down time won't last long, though, as 76 players are slated to join the fun in just a few minutes' time.

Almost 250 players were lurking around the room at this time yesterday, but less than 80 of them still had chips left when it came time to write their names on plastic bags at the end of last night. What's more, only 56 of those will be lucky enough to earn themselves a payday upon their eventual exits.

That money bubble should hit within the first couple of levels, and from there it's a straight shot down to the final twenty-four players.

We're about a half hour away from our scheduled start. Stretch your legs, grab a coffee, and get settled in for another exciting day of cards.
