An Oracle on the Rail

Morten Guldhammer opened with an under-the-gun raise to 25,000, and the table folded all the way around to the blinds. In the big, Kristijonas Andrulis peeked down at {10-Spades} {10-Clubs} and moved all in for about 160,000 total. Andrulis instantly called the healthy reraise, turning up {Q-Clubs} {J-Clubs}.

Andrulis began to stand up, but a friend behind him said, "Sit down. Sit down. You will win this."

"How can you know?" asked Andrulis, half-amused, half-frustrated.

And the flop was no fun at all for the at-risk player. The {Q-Spades} appeared right in the window on a flop of {9-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}. Andrulis slid his chair under the table and began to turn away just as a timely {10-Diamonds} appeared on the turn! The fortune-teller on the rail was right as the two-outer brought life back to Andrulis, needing to fade just a few outs now to double.

When the river blanked off with the {A-Hearts}, he did just that, working his stack back to about 340,000.
