Ludo Plays the Game

Lacay guy
Lacay guy
Peter Krikkay opened for 775 from the cutoff only for Ludovic Lacay to make it 2,225 from the small blind. The gent in the big blind unexpectedly called, Krikkay passed, and they saw a flop.

Flop: {A-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {4-Spades}

Both players checked, and they proceeded.

Turn: {8-Hearts}

Lacay now bet out 2,600, and with barely a moment's thought the big blind passed, showing {10-Spades} {10-Diamonds}. Lacay nodded sagely and moved on up to 72,000.

Pica-Pocket

Giuseppe Pica has just 1,000 chips left after getting into a 45,000 pot all-in preflop with {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs} against Rosario Cibelli's {K-Spades} {K-Clubs} after the board came {2-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {J-Spades} {3-Spades} {8-Hearts}.

Pica's general mood now? Glum.

Marlin No Fish

Finnish EPT fixture Tommi Etelapera opened for a chunky 1,200, but Riccardo Marlin made it 5,000 from the button. Back to Etelapera, who folded with a grin. Marlin showed him pocket queens, just to prove that he wasn't messing about after his rather fortunate outdraw incident earlier.

"I folded aces," lied another player at the table - it seems that Marlin has now firmly established himself as Luckiest Player At The Table. "For you, I fold aces. Maybe jokers."

Five Eight Five

Registration has been closed since the conclusion of the second level, and we've got a number for you.

Day 1a of the EPT San Remo has drawn a total of 585 runners, and that should put us well on pace to eclipse the 1,200-player cap. Of those starting runners, about 515 remain as level four winds down.

Hansen Is Defeated By A Marlin

It's a diaster for Martin Bjerring Hansen, he has just lost a 60,000 pot all-in preflop with {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} against {A-Spades} {J-Spades} belonging to one Riccardo Marlin.

The flop of {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {6-Diamonds} looked safe enough and while the {J-Hearts} turn might have caused a little anxiety, the {J-Diamonds} meant the Dane would've kicked the cat out of the window (if there were cats allowed in the tournament area).

Hansen is left with about 11,000 and looked a bit annoyed.

Potenza Fails to Realize Potential

Nicola Potenza - Nicola is a man's name if you're Italian, which amuses and delights your English-speaking bloggers - got his last in against Stefan Matsson. However, both players turned out to be holding {A-?} {K-?} and although Potenza had the potential to make a flush when two spades came on the flop, by the turn they'd established that they were chopping the pot and both players took their chips back.
