Now that Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier is sitting there, the TV crew seem finally to have cottoned on to our Table Of Death over in the corner. We wandered over there to find that there had been an opening raise to 4,700 and a call from the hijack, before ElkY re-popped for an additional 10,000 from the big blind. One by one, his opponents' cards went into the much and ElkY picked up the pot.
ElkY asked tablemate Johnny Lodden what he thought he'd had. "Queens," said Lodden. "I show you, for the cameras," ElkY told him, and revealed . He's at 140,000.
Team Pokerstars Pro Jude Ainsworth has been eliminated at the hands of Juan Enrique Company Iborra. Ainsworth opened with an undetermined raise and received one caller before Company squeezed with a three-bet. Ainsworth moved all-in and Company called. Ainsworth had and Company had pocket aces.
Asa Smith finished in fifth place in this event last year for €200,000. He has been moved to table 20 and has just been introduced to Haykel Vidal.
Vidal opened to 5,200 and Smith called in the big blind. The flop was and both players checked. The turn was and again both players checked. The river was and Smith checked - Vidal bet 9,000. This bet was sufficient enough to cause Smith to remove his hood, have a stare and make the call. Vidal turned over for the rivered straight and Smith mucked his hand.
"Dana!" came the cry across the tournament floor, "Dana, I won a pot!"
I scuttled over to discover that the voice was that of Team PokerStars Pro Ruben Visser. He told me that there had already been a late position raise to 5,000 when Gianni Giaroni reraised from the button. Visser shoved from the small blind with pocket kings, and they both folded. He's at around 130,000 now.
We can only catch the very sketchiest of details from the feature table, but it looked as though there was a three-way all in showdown, pocket aces and pocket threes against what we think was Roberto Romanello's set of queens. From what we can see on the screens, Romanello looks like he's at around 200,000 now.
A few minutes ago we reported of a potential table of death emerging over on Table 1, where Nicolas Chouity, Melanie Weisner, Johnny Lodden and Kristoffer Thorsson are seated. Well, one Bertrand "Elky" Grospellier has now joined them, making this the true Table of Death.
Right in the very furthest corner of the room, where nary a camera crew dare venture, a very interesting table has formed. It includes the following folks:
We stood by the table for some time, but the action while we were there mostly consisted of folding. Perhaps all the shorter stacks are afraid of Amsterdam Master Classics winner Thorsson and his über-stack. Either way, there's bound to be some fun action there sooner or later so we'll keep a close eye on the corner table's denizens.
Two of the biggest stacks that bagged up at the end of Day 2 were Jairo Pascaul and Zachary Korik. Well they both still have pretty big stacks with Pascaul sat on 200,000 and Korik 197,000. Also at their table is Team Pokerstars Pro Jude Ainsworth. Ainsworth ended the day at the bottom end of the leader board when he bagged and tagged a mere 25,000 at the end of day 2. Juan Enrique Company Iborra has had a good morning as well, accumulating 128,000 chips this morning.
Ainsworth who is chasing his fourth EPT Main Event cash this year has been involved in a few hands and his chip count is now 48,000.
