Binger Heads For The Rail

Michael Binger
Michael Binger

I had no longer just tagged Michael Binger as having 25,000 chips when he brushed past me on his way to the exit.

It turns out Binger moved all-in with {a-}{2-} and was called by a player with {a-}{8-}. Already in bad shape, Binger was soon practically drawing dead as the flop was the home to two more eights.

The 2006 WSOP Main Event third place finisher now has plenty of time to soak up the sights of Barcelona

Blain of His Life

Dermot Blain is in some serious trouble now after the gentleman under the gun shoved and Blain called off a little over 15,000 of his stack. There was some brief joy for Blain, followed by some lasting sadness as his opponent made a set of eights and Blain found himself reduced to just 24,000.

Blain: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Mr. Under The Gun: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

Board: {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

Sunar Surinder's On The Turn

Surinder Sunar has seen his stack decimated after clashing with Vitalijs Zavorotnijs on a four-flushed board.

The player under the gun called off his last 1,400 chips and when the action folded around to Sunar in the cutoff, he made it 4,400 to play. Next to act was Zavorotnijs, who raised to 11,000, a bet that was eventually called by Mr Sunar.

Flop: {q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

Sunar checked, Zavorotnijs bet 12,500 and Sunar counted out enough to call the bet but didn't pull the trigger. After almost a minute he did shoot, and called the bet.

Turn: {10-Diamonds}

The turn brought a fourth diamond to the board but Sunar seemed to like this one. After riffling a pile of red chips, then switching to a pile of black chips, he counted out 12,300 and bet, leaving himself around 46,000 behind. Zavorotnijs tossed eight yellow chips totalling 40,000 into the middle and Sunar, quite remarkably, quickly folded.

Zavorotnijs: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Micro-stacked UTG player: {a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}

River: {k-Clubs}

The board failed to pair and the UTG player quadruples up to a not so healthy 5,200 stack, Sunar dropped to 46,200 but Zavorotnijs climbs to 150,000

Table 20 Update

Over at table 20 we have [Removed:40] - sat in seat 1 - who recently cashed in EPT Vienna. World Series Bracelet owner Davidi Kitai sat in seat 4 with the short stack. Team Pokerstars Pro Matthias De Meulder is sat in seat 4 with 130,700 but the table chip leader is Haykel Vidal is sat with over 200,000 chips in seat 8.

The short stack Kitai has been all-in twice recently. The second time he received a scare but the first time he received a very reluctant call from De Meulder in the big blind. Kitai must have thought the writing was on the wall when he peeled over his {q-Hearts} {2-Hearts} but managed a little smile when he saw De Meulders {9-Clubs} {3-Clubs}. The board didn’t help De Meulder and Kitai ended his two all-ins with 18,200 and was still the shortest stack at the table by far.

The Big Stacks Lose Some Pots

There is action and big stacks galore over at Table 28.

One of those big stacks is Team Pokerstars Pro Leo Fernandez and we just caught up with him as he lost a few of his chips in this hand. His opponent opened the action from the Button making it 3,700 to play and Fernandez called in the small blind. The flop was {10-Spades} {10-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} and both players checked. The turn was {9-Diamonds} and Fernandez bet 4,200 and his opponent called. The river was {j-Clubs} and both players checked.

Fernandez: {5-} {5-}

Opponent: {6-} {9-}

One of the other big stacks on the table is Roberto Romanello and he too just lost some of his chips.

Romanello opened under the gun to 3,700 and Jasper Wetermans called in the small blind. The flop was {a-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} and Wetermans checked and Romanello bet 4,300 and Wetermans called. The turn was {2-Clubs} and river {q-Clubs} and action was checked on both streets.

Romanello: {7-} {7-}

Wetermans: {a-} {k-}

Gomez On The Rise

Team PokerStars Pro, Alexandre Gomes is back in business after eliminating Alfonso Mendez just moments ago.

Mendez open-shoved from the cutoff holding {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} for what turned out to be 35,000 but he did not plan on Gomes, seated on the button, to wake up and call with {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

The final board came out {8-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and Gomes' pocket tens held up to catapult him to 76,000 in chips, having been down to just 20,000 around thirty minutes ago.

Whilst at this table I discovered a player who has so far been flying under the radar, a Ben Warrington who has a pile of chips in front of him worth 170,000. Keep your eye out for him
