Frederik Jensen is now in some serious trouble after check-calling off 4,225 to Tristan Clemencon on the river of a board. Clemencon turned over for top two pair and Jensen mucked, his expression unchanged.
Today is Team PokerStars Pro Julien Brecard's birthday. So from all of us at PokerNews,
BON ANNIVERSAIRE JULIEN!
Mr. Brecard is currently playing the tournament (stack - 42,000 right now) so celebrations are being slightly postponed, but we understand that Mr. Brecard will be available to have drinks bought for him in the Alpine Palace bar after play finishes.
Vladimir Krasula opened preflop to 800, Sebastian Ruthenberg then 3-bet to 2,500 from the cutoff and Ilan Rouah cold-called from the blinds and Krasula also called.
The flop of was checked to Ruthenberg and the German bet 3,800. Rouah called but Krasula folded leaving them heads-up for the turn, both players now checked to see the river.
Rouah quickly fired out 7,225 and Ruthenberg gave it some serious thought but ended up folding, Rouah apparently flashing a king.
It's been a steady ascent for Manuel Bevand today, he just fired out 7,700 into a 10,000 chip pot on the river of a board against James Sowers. The American taking some time before electing to fold to this sizeable bet.
We strolled by Team PokerStars Pro George Danzer's table to find him grinning insanely, like a man completely full of sugar. In front of his chips was a small heap of assorted fruit-flavoured chewy treats.
"I traded my ski pass to a guy because I don't ski," he explained, a wild look in his eyes. "He gave me candy." That's €130 worth of ski pass, for around €1 in candy. Oh well. We in the press room would probably have taken the candy too.
In what looked to be a 4-way 3-bet pot, it was checked to Dennis Rubba, who bet 2,600 on the board with Team PokerStars Pro Salvatore Bonavena the only caller.
The came on the turn and Bonavena checked again and Rubba bet 6,500. Bonavena , who is one of 11 former winners in just this half of the field playing today gave it some serious thought but meekly mucked his cards.
Luca Pagano is back up to around 77,000 chips after he gave a lesson in pot control to EPT Tallin Champion, Kevin Stani.
It was Kevin MacPhee who opened the betting with a 700 raise from early position, a raise that Stani three-bet to 2,400 and Pagano, next to act, flat-called. Everyone else folded back to MacPhee and he made the call.
Flop: - MacPhee checked, Stani made it 4,800 to play, Pagano smooth called the bet and MacPhee got out of the way.
Turn: - Stani was in no mood for slowing down and he put a bet of 6,700 into the already swollen pot. Once again Pagano simply called.
River: - After being called preflop, on the flop and on the turn Stani now checked and Pagano checked behind, though he turned over which was enough to win the hand and boost him to 77,000, whilst Stani dropped to 29,500
Sandra Naujoks opened to 700 before the awesomely monikered Eros Nastasi three-bet to 2,000 and Philip Meulyzer cold four-bet to 4,600 from the button. In the small blind, Felix Bleiker tanked up for perhaps seven minutes before cold five-betting all in for around 18,000. Big blind and birthday boy Julien Brecard naturally folded, as did Naujoks and Nastasi. Meulyzer called, though, and they were on their backs.
Meulyzer: an unsurprisingly premium
Bleiker: a rather more esoteric
Board:
Bleiker's unorthodox move backfired on him, and he is now busto. Meulyzer is up to 61,000.
