Break #2

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

The sun seems to have finally come out after a decidedly muggy and overcast afternoon. 15 minutes of that for everyone.

Lodden Doubles

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

Johnny Lodden has doubled up to 17,000 thanks to the good old power of a coinflip. He was all-in with {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts} against Mauro Corsetti's {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and caught the {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} flop before having a real sweat when the {10-Diamonds} turn gave Corsetti a straight flush draw but the {6-Hearts} was a blank river.

Joe Perks Up

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

Many thanks to our roving reporter Gloria Balding for this little gem that saw 2009 World Champion Joe Cada's stack increase to almost 70,000.

The flop read {a-}{a-}{10-} rainbow and Cada check-called 3,000 from his one opponent. Cada check-called another 6,000 on the {7-Diamonds} turn and checked a third time on the {3-Clubs} river - but this time when his opponent bet 12,000, Cada went all in.

Insta-fold.

Coppola Sinks His Fangs Into Bejedal

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

Earlier in the day we reported on the Ted Forrest double up hand (AA v KK) and the unfortunate loser was Dennis Bejedal. After that hand Bejedal was down but not out until just moments ago when Manuel Coppola finished him off.

Amerigo Santoro opened with a raise of 825 and Bejedal moved all-in for 5,525. Coppola was next to act and he made the call. It was obvious by the look on his face that Ted Forrest had a difficult decision to make but eventually he surrendered his hand. Back to Santoro who folded and we had heads up action.

Bejedal: {3-Spades} {3-Diamonds}
Coppola: {a-Clubs} {k-Spades}

Board: {a-Hearts} {j-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {2-Spades} {7-Hearts}

Coppola doubled up after unknowingly spiking the only remaining ace in the deck.

"I would have won a big pot off you then. I folded ace-jack," said Forrest.

"I folded ace-queen," Santoro chipped in.

Well Coppola didn't fold his ace-king and he now has 86,875

The End for Evelyn

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

Evelyn Ng has been eliminated from EPT San Remo. The man everyone now hates on the table is Arnaud Lombard. We didn't see the action but we did see the board and know that it was Ng who moved all-in on the river.

Board: {7-Spades} {q-Clubs} {a-Clubs} {9-Spades} {5-Spades}

Ng moved all-in for her last 6,425 with 10,000 in the pot and Lombard called with {a-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}. Ng held {k-Diamonds} {q-Diamonds}.

De Vries Now Moving in Right Direction

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante
Shander de Vries
Shander de Vries

Shander de Vries' stack dropped into the early 20s in the first few hours of play, but he's now making a bit of a recovery.

The EPT Barcelona finalist reraised to 2,150 from the small blind to a 650 raise from online qualifier Davide Costa and a call from Salvatore Arrigo; Costa folded but Arrigo made the call to see a flop. The {6-}{5-}{4-} flop must not have been to his liking though - de Vries bet out, and Arrigo swiftly passed, boosting de Vries' stack back up to 25,500.

Those 80K Swings...

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

There was quite a crowd around Ted Forrest's table though the American (making a rare foray into Europe's poker waters) was not involved. Manuel Coppola (No relation to Francis Ford or Sofia we presume) had 4-bet all in for a massive 40,000 over a raise to 1,200 and then a 3-bet to 7,200.

Pierre Sakr, who had made the 3-bet tanked for a while after the intial raiser and caller both folded. Sakr finally calling with {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} miles ahead of Coppola's {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} but the board came {j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and the huge pot was shipped to the Italian who is up to 80,000.

Hand Science by Andy Black

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante
Andy Black
Andy Black

Andy Black has just doubled up and is stretching his neck around the top of the leader board.

He and his opponent, Peter Nordin, had a bit of a card argument pre flop and all of their money went in the middle to settle the dispute.

Black: {k-Spades} {k-Diamonds}
Nordin: {a-Diamonds} {a-Clubs}

So what did Andy Black have to say about the pre flop action? Lay it out scientifically for us Mr Black.

"Well, when he re-raised me I thought he must have aces. But I thought f**k it I am all-in." Said Black

Flop: {7-Spades} {3-Spades} {8-Diamonds}

Turn: {j-Spades}

River: {k-Hearts}

Black picked up a flush draw on the turn to give himself some more outs but the presence of the third King won the hand for him anyway.

Nordin walked off in disgust despite having 75 left to his name.
