Lacay Doubles Through Vandersmissen

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante
Ludovic Lacay
Ludovic Lacay

Ludovic Lacay limp-called in the small blind against Kevin Vandersmissen, check-calling bets of 17,000 and 36,000 on the flop and turn of a {10-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{6-Spades} board before Lacay check-raised all-in for 320,000 against Vandersmissen's 76,000 river bet.

Vandersmissen did not seem too keen on the call but was not entirely convinced by his opponent either, he made the call with {10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} but it was no good against Lacay's {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a double up to about 800,000. Vandersmissen dropped to 565,000.

Pisa Tower Collapses

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

Denis Pisarev just got eliminated by Massimiliano Manigrasso, the old {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts} proving no good against {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} on a {k-Spades}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{a-Spades} board. Max Lykov looked slightly crestfallen that he'd folded {9-}{9-} - presumably with the {9-Spades}.

Max Lykov is the Chip Leader

Max Lykov and his über-stack
Max Lykov and his über-stack

Team Pokerstars Pro Max Lykov is our new chip leader with a whopping 1.8 million in chips.

We are led to believe that his biggest haul came against Joe Coraci. Lykov eliminating the Canadian on a board of {q-} {5-} {3-} {2-} {5-} holding {6-} {4-}.

Side Event Bigger Than Many Main Events

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

Wow, good show, €2k event! A total of 439 players entered, generating an astounding €851,660 prize pool. 40 places pay out, and first place will get €250,000. That's huge.

Among the field are Team PokerStars Pros Jonathan Duhamel, Angel Guillen, Ruben Visser, Ivan Demidov, Barry Greenstein, JP Kelly, Liv Boeree, Arnaud Mattern and Vanessa Selbst. Plenty of value there, then.

Yunis Moves Over One Million

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

We caught the action on the turn where Nicolas Yunis had check-called a 27,000 Carter Phillips bet.

Board: {9-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {4-Spades} {10-Diamonds}

The river was the {8-Diamonds} and Phillips was sat with 120,000. Yunis bet 40,000 and Phillips took his time before eventually folding {a-} {10-}. Yunis told Phillips he could peel one card and it was the {a-}.

Phillips ~ 120,000
Yunis ~ 1,100,000
