We've lost another member of the Team PokerStars family as Fatima Moreira de Melo has just been issued her marching orders. We heard her relating the three-hand sequence to our Dutch colleagues, but we only understood about one-in-twenty words. If you're better versed in Dutch than we are, you can find the story here on the .nl blog.
If you're primarily English speakers like us, suffice it to say that the SportStar has been uitgeschakeld here on Day 1b after a series of unfortunate events toppled her chip stack.
Daniel Negreanu is back up to around 14,000 after more than doubling up.
Bob Stain raised to 600 and was called in two spots before Negreanu three-bet all-in for 5,850 from the small blind. Stain moved all-in as well to isolate and it worked.
It's another hit to Daniel Negreanu's stack, but we just caught the last bit. The board read when we walked up, and Chris Lastiwka was putting out the last bet of 8,200 into a pot of about just more than that. Negreanu spent just a couple minutes in the tank, counting down his shortening stack to assess the potential damage. Finally, he splashed the call into the pot.
Lastiwa turned up for the full house, and Negreanu was beaten. It sounded like he said he had kings, but we can't be sure. Either way, it's another downward trend for Kid Poker as this last pot knocks him all the way back to 6,250.
With the flop of out in the middle of the felt, Alexandre Karguine checked and the next player checked to Anton Wigg. Wigg bet 950 and Karguine made the call. The third player then check-raised to 2,900. Wigg flatted that and then Karguine moved all in for 12,325. After the check raiser folded, Wigg called and showed the . Karguine held the and it was top pair and a flush draw versus the overpair for Wigg.
The turn brought the and the river the , which both nailed Karguine. First, he made trip queens to take the lead and second, he smacked a flush as the river completed the board. He won the pot while Wigg was left with just 18,000 in chips.
From middle position, Juan Navarrete Azon raised to 600. Chris Lastiwka made the call from the cutoff seat and then Team PokerStars Pro and four-time World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu was up. He three-bet to 2,600 and the blinds folded to put the action back on Azon. Azon four-bet and made it an even 6,000. Both Lastiwka and Negreanu quickly folded and Azon won the pot.
The numbers are in! This Day 1b flight attracted 465 players, just over 100 more than yesterday's crowd. Today's number added to Day 1a's means our field is locked in at 811 players.
That means first place will pay well over €800,000, but we'll have to wait for the payouts to be released before we can give you the exact amount. As soon as it's made available to us, we'll post the full prize pool and payouts breakdown.
When we arrived at the table, Daniel Negreanu was all in for 12,800 on the turn with the board reading . His opponent was Denis Pisarev and he was in the tank. Eventually, Pisarev folded his hand and Negreanu won the pot to increase his stack.
Former EPT Berlin champ Kevin MacPhee was going along very nicely until just now.
A little while ago his Tweet read, "Check/called 3 streets with AA on 986cch-3h-9 board and get shown A7hh... 44k at end of level 3 #continuingtherungood #eptbarcelona."
The latest one was not so good though, "Down to 6k. Button opens I 3bet 10s. Flop A106 rainbow bet/call. Turn 8 and I 3bet jam... he has 97o FML #atleastitissunday #eptbarcelona."
Good news edit: MacPhee back up to 17,000 after tripling up. His smile is back as well!
Sorel Mizzi and Jason Mercier are at the same table and Mercier just responded to a Tweet that Mizzi posted a little while ago.
He wrote, "@sorelmizzi both times were for value. Ugh."
It was in response to Mizzi's, "38k in EPT barcelona. @jasonmercier at my tbl but he's not threat b/c he keeps triple barrel bluffing away his stack n is down to 7500."
