Action folded to Evgeny Zaytsev on the button and he raised. Martin Schleich reraised all in from the small blind for 370,000 and Zaytsev called.
Zaytsev:
Schleich:
The flop came down and Schleich hit top set. He improved to an unbeatable quads on the turn as the case fell before the river completed the board with the .
Schleich moved to about 775,000 while Zaytsev was left with just under that amount.
Benjamin Juhasz raised to 45,000 and overnight chip leader Tomeu Gomila reraised to 110,000. Action folded back around to Juhasz and he four-bet to 400,000. Gomila moved all in and Juhasz called to put himself at risk.
Juhasz:
Gomila:
Juhasz was all in and dominated for his tournament life. He needed some help on the flop, turn or river to stay alive or he'd be out in 24th place.
The flop came down and that was followed by the , which meant Juhasz could only hit a ten on the river to stay alive.
The river landed with the and that was the end of the line for Juhasz. Gomila scooped the pot and resumed his position as chip leader with 3.1 million in chips.
From the hijack seat, Juan Perez raised to 41,000. Action folded to Raul Mestre in the small blind and he three-bet to 115,000. Perez came back with a four-bet to 248,000 and Mestre folded.
From the hijack seat, Massimilano Martinez raised to 45,000. Xavier Carruggi flatted in the cutoff and then action folded to Miikka Anttonen in the big blind. He reraised all in for 300,000. Martinez tanked and then folded before Carruggi did the same thing, tank-folded.
Martin Schleich's stack is under more pressure now after lost a pot, whilst in position, against the table big stack Raul Mestre.
He raised to 36,000 from mid position and Mestre peeled to see a flop. The action was checked to the turn where the Spaniard led for 45,000. A quick call came. The river came and both players checked.
Mestre opened and pointed at the ace. This was enough as his German opponent folded.
Just one hand into the day, we've already got some pretty significant chip movement.
The pot began with Saar Wilf opening with a raise, and Massimilano Martinez three-bet to 132,000 in position. Wilf called, and off they went. They'd check their way through the flop, and the landed on the turn. Wilf checked again, and Martinez made the delayed continuation bet of 163,000. His opponent called, and the scary river put a straight on board. Now it was Wilf who started stacking up chips, and he eventually settled on a near-pot-sized bet of 600,000. With hands a'trembling, Martinez cut out the calling chips and kissed them goodbye.
Wilf tabled his , and the flush is good for the pot. With it comes the chip lead once again as he improves his count to 2.948 million.
Day 4 of the 2011 PokerStars.comEuropean Poker Tour Barcelona Main Event is just a short time away from starting and that means another great day of poker is ahead of us.
A few days ago, 811 hopefuls began the quest for EPT glory and the first-place prize of €850,000. Hand by hand, level by level, day by day, players were eliminated and now the tournament finds itself down to the last three tables of 24 players.
Leading the way into Day 4 is Tomeu Gomila with 2.547 million in chips. He collected the majority of those chips on one of the final hands of last night to earn the chip lead. Gomila busted both Jose Angel Latorre Marina and Simon Charette on the same hand when his held up against the of Marina and the for Charette.
The two most notable players returning today are Team PokerStars Pros Eugene Katchalov and Matthias De Meulder. They'll enter the penultimate day with 1.452 million and 1.376 million in chips, respectively. Both of them had plenty of luck on their side yesterday as they had to come from behind in key all-in situations with underpairs to overpairs. Both were able to win those battles and wouldn't be alive today if things would have panned out differently.
