Top Pair Good For Bar-Yosef

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Yotam Bar-Josef has just called down David Vamplew to discover that his top pair was the best hand all along.

In the hand Vitaly Grigoryev opened the betting with a raise to 525 from under the gun. Bar-Josef called in the cutoff, Jesper Höög called from the small blind and Vamplew called in the big blind. The flop came down {9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}, Höög checked, Vamplew checked, Grigoryev checked but Bar-Yosef bet 900. Höög called but Vamplew made it 3,375 to play. This was enough to fold out Grigoryev and Höög but Bar-Yosef made the call.

The dealer put the {2-Hearts} out on the turn and Vamplew made a bet of 4,150, which Bar-Yosef called relatively quickly. The river brought the {2-Spades} into play, Vamplew checked and his opponent instantly checked behind.

Vamplew: {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Bar-Yosef: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

Vamplew down to 21,000.

King Kurko

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante
Kimmo Kurko
Kimmo Kurko

Kimmo Kurko just got moved to table two and wasted little in taking a healthy pot off Manfred Sierke to move up to 28,500 chips.

Sierke limped from the cut-off and called when the Finn raised to 800 from the next seat along. The flop came {5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{10-Hearts} and Sierke check-called a 1,525 bet before both players checked the {4-Hearts} turn. The river came 3,725 and Kurko saw his 3,725 bet check-called by his opponent.

He opened {k-Hearts}{k-Spades} and took the pot as his opponent folded.

Brito in Successive Pots

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Brito raised from the hi-jack and Vitaly Grigoryev defended his big blind. The flop fell down {k-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {3-Hearts} and Grigoryev tapped the felt. Brito led out with a bet of 400 but no sooner had his last chip hit the table when Grigoryev check-raised to 850. Brito called the check-raise equally as quickly and we saw a turn of {3-Diamonds}. Grigoryev bet 1,500 and Brito quickly folded.

In the next hand Jan Brandejs opened to 375 from middle position and Brito called from behind. The two of them shared a flop with more diamonds on it than a Paris Hilton i-phone cover {2-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds}. Brandejs bet 475 and Brito called. The turn changed the colour scheme a little bit when we saw the {6-Clubs} and Brito calmly called a 1,225 Brandejs bet. When the last card hit the deck {10-Spades} Brandejs took 1,900 from his stack of around 18,000 and pushed it across the line. All eyes on Brito and he nonchalantly threw in a raise of 6,000 and Brandejs folded.

Ebanks a double-up

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Joe Ebanks is up to around 40,000 after doubling through Mendor Berisha.

The two were heads-up to a {5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} flop where Ebanks check-called a 2,350 bet to see the {2-Diamonds} turn. Ebanks checked once more and this time he faced a 5,175 bet. He tanked and then moved all-in for 16,700. Berisha snap called with {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} for top pair, top kicker and nut flush draw. It was no good though as Ebanks tabled a monster full house with {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}. The inconsequential river came {10-Spades}.

It's a Sign!

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Martin Jacobson - Showing all the signs that he will do well today.

EPT award winner Martin Jacobson has arrived at EPT Tallinn fresh from a 8-week American soiree. For a man with such high standards he did not experience his greatest few weeks at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) and yesterday he thought all the signs were gearing up for another bad start. Not only did his luggage fail to follow him to Tallinn but he then lost the classic "credit card roulette" when it came to buying dinner last night.

He has just shown us a little ladybird which has nestled on his headphone case.

"It's a sign," he said.

We seem to believe him as he currently sits on a stack of around 55,000 after being fairly active in hands like these.

Jacobson opened with a raise to 400 from the classic steal position - the button. Michael McNelis was in the big blind and decided to defend.

Flop: {a-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {j-Diamonds}

McNelis checked to Jacobson who made the obligatory c-bet of 475. "No, no, no," said McNelis before folding.

Then in the next hand Mikhail Morozovs raised to 425 and Jacobson slammed the door shut with a 1,200 three-bet from the cut-off and Morozovs respectably folded from his inferior position.

Folding For the Win

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Swedish player, David Sonelin, has built up many big stacks in EPTs but has so far failed to covert any of his four cashes into a final table appearance (11th being his deepest run). This EPT will probably be one of the smaller fields of the season so offers him a great opportunity of breaking that duck.

He just bet tank-folded to Danny Nierop raise on the river of a {a-Spades}{7-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{8-Spades} board. His bet was for 3,425 and the raise was to 9,000. It was a good fold to as Nierop was holding the nuts with {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}.

Sonelin still showing a profit, despite the loss, with 34,000 chips.
