Anthony Hnatow raised to 800 in early position and Pierre Neuville called in the big blind. The dealer gave us a hearty flop of and both players decided to check. On the turn we saw more red when the hit the board. Neuville decided to lead when he made a bet of 1,100 and Hnatow calmly made the call. Finally we saw the and Neuville once again lead - this time for 2,000 - but Hnatow raised to 4,100. Neuville pondered for a while and made the call and Hnatow turned over for the straight. Neuville mucked his hand.
A cheeky Albert Iversen is up to around 74,000 after betting 3,200 into an 8,600 pot on the river of a board. Iversen was betting from the big blind and the decision was on Gunther Schett on the button. The Austrian tanked for a few minutes and folded. Iversen broke out into a smile and tabled .
Sam Kelopuro couldn't beat fourth pair versus Johnny Jensen. He was on of two caller when Jensen raised to 925 from under the gun. The Finn called a 1,625 c-bet before both players checked through the turn and river. The final board read and Kelopuro mucked upon seeing Jensen's .
Jan Verstraete raised to 1,000 in mid position and Anthony Hnatow three-bet to 2,250 one seat to his immediate left. Back to Verstraete and he decided to see a flop from out of position and made the call. The flop was and both players checked before we saw the on the turn where Verstraete check-called a 2,300 Hnatow bet. On the river we saw the and both players checked.
Hnatow turned over for the bluff and Verstrate turned over for the winning hand.
Rupert Elder will not become the first double EPT champion because he has been eliminated at the hands of another former champion Roberto Romanello.
Joining the action on the flop, Samuli Spiila bet 1,400, Elder raised to 4,200 and Romanello put in a raise of his own, this one to 7,800. Spiila got out of the way but Elder raised to around 16,000 then called when Romanello moved all in.
Romanello:
Elder:
Elder needed running cards but the turn and river were the and respectively and after the chips were counted, Elder had 32,500, Elder was eliminated and Romanello now has more than 70,000 chips.
Team PokerStars Pro Pierre Neuville was talking to Jan Molby about Romanello and he said, "That is how he wins tournaments, he is charming so they give him their chips. He gets all the women, all the men and all the chips!"
We have just seen the top three hands in NLHE come out to play and here is the story.
Simon Ravnsbaek raised to 725 from under the gun, Melanie Weisner called in middle position and the cutoff called before Ilkin Amirov raised on the button making it 2,275 to play. Wim Bos was seated in the small blind and he moved all-in for 17,900. Ravnsbaek asked for a count before making the call and the action folded around to Amirov who bleakly said, "fold."
Bos turned over pocket kings, Ravnsbaek turned over pocket aces and Amirov showed everyone that he had folded pocket queens. Plenty of excitement, but it had not even started. The flop was giving Bos a set of kings. Ravnsbaek remained unmoved even when the gave him a better set on the turn. The river card was the which would have given Amirov a set as well!
Ravnsbaek is up to 80,000, Amirov has 50,000 and Bos is out.
The elimination rate is picking up slightly now. Out of the three listed below Endravuz Duzgun was the unluckiest.
He flopped trip aces with big-slick only for Danny Neess to overtake him on the turn. He held pocket jacks and made a full house when the turn came a jack. Duzgun said it was impossible for him to get away from it as he left. That helped Nees up to 88,000 chips.
Kasper Jacobsen opened the betting to 800 from late position and was called in a number of spots. To his direct left is Canracy Khun and he called, to his left is Sami Kelopuro and he called in the hijack. David Vamplew called in the small blind and Martin Prager called in the big blind too.
Flop: - Vamplew checked, Prager checked, Jacobsen bet 3,000, Khun folded, Kelopuro called and Vamplew folded. Still with us? Good. Now Prager check-raised to just 7,000 and this time only Jacobsen called.
Turn: - Prager bet 6,500 and Jacobsen quickly called.
River: Prager checked, Jacobsen tried to get a 24,000 bet through but Prager was having none of it and after letting out a small sigh he made the call.
Jacobsen: - for top pair and a busted straight draw
Prager: - for a full house and the win!
