Chips for Mizzi

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Sorel Mizzi
Sorel Mizzi

Sorel Mizzi bet 1,325 in the early position with {5-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} already on the board and the player in the big blind made the call. The dealer flipped {K-Diamonds} on the turn and the big blind checked. Mizzi bet 3,000 and got the call.

The big blind checked again after seeing {A-Hearts} on the river and Mizzi fired 5,325. His opponent wasn't willing to risk that much and folded the hand.

Boatman In Good Shape

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Five players entered the flop including Team PokerStars Pro Matthias De Meulder in the hijack position and Barny Boatman in the big blind.

The dealer opened {J-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} and Boatman bet 600. Carlos Lopez and Matthias De Meulder both folded and Erik Von Buxhoeveden called on the button as well as did Thomas Brauner in the small blind.

All three checked the {5-Clubs} on the turn as well as {10-Clubs} on the river. Boatman showed {J-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} for a two pair which was good enough for the win as the other two players mucked.

Da Bookie Downed

Mike "Da Bookie" Hill was having a great festival so far with two cashes including in the Estrelles main event. We write "was" as he's out of the EPT main event.

We caught up with him in the corridor and he informed us that he ran pocket aces into an opponent's pocket queens on a queen high flop. Ouch!

Ruth-Less

Sebastian Ruthenberg check-called a bet of 3,425 on the turn of a {4-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{5-Hearts} board against Nikov Georgiev. The German then checked the river and Georgiev bet 10,250, Ruthenberg sighed a little, perhaps hoping that Georgiev would've bet smaller.

Nevertheless, Ruthenberg made the call and Georgiev flipped {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for the turned straight and Ruthenberg mucked.

Veldhuis' Lexcellent Adventure

Lex Veldhuis and Arnaud Mattern
Lex Veldhuis and Arnaud Mattern

On a flop of {10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, Emilio Lopez bet 2,500 from the big blind, Fayad Ghassan made the call before Team PokerStars Pro Lex Veldhuis raised to 7,200. Achille Voltolina cold called the Dutchman's raise from the button, Lopez folded and but Ghassan also called.

The {A-Diamonds} came on the turn and Ghassan checked, Veldhuis bet a substantial 15,000, Voltolina announced he was all in, Ghassan folded and Veldhuis made the call.

Voltolina: {K-Spades}{7-Spades}
Veldhuis: {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}

The river was the {3-Clubs} and Veldhuis doubled up to about 80,000.

That wasn't the end of things though as in the very next hand, Veldhuis opened from the UTG and four-bet preflop. His opponent refused to fold though and was all in on a {J-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades} with {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} but Veldhuis showed {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds} and held on the {2-Spades} turn and {7-Spades} river.

Veldhuis has over 100,000 now.
