Unfortunately for her, it didn't pan out. We saw Kimmel headed down the hall and she informed us that she met her end after running an ace-high flush into a full house. Kimmel seemed to be in good spirits though. "The thing I like about poker is the same thing I love about Survivor," Kimmel said. She then cited a few parallels between the two games including the ability to read people, manipulation and timing.
After the hijack opened to 850, Daniel Bavec called from the cutoff. The small blind called as well, and then Kuo Hui Chen moved all in from the big blind for 7,750. The original raiser folded, Bavec four-bet to 29,100, and the small blind got out of the way.
Showdown
Chen
Bavec
It was a good spot for Chen as she had Bavec dominated. However, the flop did give her opponent a flush draw. The turn didn't complete it, and neither did the river. Chen survived the hand and doubled to around 18,000.
Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier is also in the Day 1b player field, however his last hand didn't go the way he wanted. Mercier raised to 2,225 in the cutoff seat and was called by Geert-Jan Potijk in the big blind.
Flop:
Both players checked and Potijk bet 2,500 on the turn. Mercier called and the dealer flipped on the river. Potijk checked and so did Mercier and the latter mucked his hand after seeing his opponent open for a two pair.
Pierre Oliver Jean Jandaud opened the pot for 1,000 only to have the cutoff three-bet to 2,700. The small blind made the call, and then Antony Lellouche shoved all in from the big for 17,225. Jandaud responded with an all-in shove of his own for about 30,000, which forced the other two out of the pot.
Showdown
Lellouche
Jandaud
Jandaud was ahead with his kings and managed to dodge an ace on the flop; however, he was unable to do it on subsequent streets as the hit the turn followed by the on the river.
Lellouche found the help he needed and doubled to nearly 40,000; meanwhile, Jandaud was knocked down to 16,000.
Joao Simao, who went very deep at EPT Madrid last year, is doing pretty well here so far on Day 1b in Barcelona - Spain might well be a good destination for the Brazilian youngster.
He just bet 11,500 on the river of a board against Jorge Ufano Pardo, the latter tanking for about six minutes before electing to fold. Simao has around 80,000.
Giuseppe Pantaleo opened from UTG to 900 and it was passed around to Jake Cody who three-bet to 2,500. Manuel Bevand thought about getting involved but instead opted to fold and the action passed back to Pantaleo.
The Italian then four-bet to 5,850 and put the onus back on the Triple Crown winner but Cody refused to back down, he five-bet to 12,500 to which Pantaleo took about ten seconds before mucking his hand.
