Jonas Mackoff raised to 80,000 from the button and Imed Mahmoud three-bet all in from the small blind. Action folded back to Mackoff and he made the call.
Showdown:
Mahmoud :
Mackoff:
Mahmoud's ace gave him the advantage while Mackoff needed to hit the board in order to bust his opponent. The flop went pairing Mackoff's nine and putting him in the lead.
It was now Mahmoud who needed help from the board to survive. The on the turn was not what Mahmoud wanted to see and nether was the on the river busting Mahmoud from the tournament in 15th place.
Ismael Bojang has a familiar name but not a familiar resume. The live cash game player from Hamburg is looking to better his long list of small cashes with a major title.
PokerStars Blog takes a look at the €990 side event which Finnish grinder Lauri Varonen leads. Check out today's starting seat draw and payouts for the event.
Matt Salsberg had a stack to match his dreams for long periods in this tournament. The TV writer/producer won WPT Paris a month ago, and an EPT trophy would've made his mantle piece nice and symmetrical.
It wasn't to be though as he busted in 16th place. Down to around 500,000 he pushed all in and was called by the burgeoning Ismael Bojang.
Salsberg:
Bojang:
The board ran to pair the German's ace.
Salsberg had a big smile on his face and wished everyone luck before he exited stage-left.
Imed Mahmoud opened with a raise to 100,000 from under the gun plus one. It folded around to Artem Litvinov who moved all in from late position for 575,000. Mahmoud called and the hands were shown:
Mahmoud:
Litvinov:
Litvinov struck gold on the flop, pairing his ace and rocketing him into the lead. The turn and the river sealed the deal and he was able to double up and cripple Mahmoud in the process.
The title says it all, folks. PokerStars.tv's Lynn Gilmartin and Poker News' Sarah Grant last night did a runner from the tournament to make this video about Mare Blu bagging themselves a free meal in the process. They didn't even bring us back a doggy bag. Harrumph.
Micah Raskin has some very distinctive followers in Sanremo this week, his identical twin brothers Logan and Roger Raskin, better known as the musicians "The Raskins".
PokerStars Blog caught up with the rockers, who are also their poker-playing brother's biggest fans.
Carmelo Vasta limped in from the middle position, Adrian Piasecki raised to 85,000 on the button and Alberto Musini shoved all in for more than 600,000 from the small blind. Vasta folded and Piasecki made the call.
Showdown:
Musini:
Piasecki:
The flop went laving Musini still in need of a seven to survive. The on the turn wasn't it and neither was the on the river. Musini was eliminated in 17th place and will collect €23,000.
With only 16 players left in the field the tournament director announced that the three tables will now be broken and the play will resume with two eight-handed tables.
Just recently Jason Lavallee busted Negjdel Avdyla with kings full of deuces and now he did the very same to Thomas Gabriel.
Gabriel shoved for 280,000 from the button and Lavallee called from the small blind.
Showdown:
Gabriel:
Lavallee:
The flop hit and it was all déjà vu for Lavallee as he flopped the very same hand he busted Avdyla with just a little more than half an hour ago. The on the turn and the on the river made no difference and Gabriel hit the rail in 18th place for €23,000.
Lavallee scooped the pot to increase his chip lead by another 300,000.
