Massive Hand Sees Katchalov Take Chip Lead

Eugene Katchalov with a massive double
Eugene Katchalov with a massive double

Niklas Astedt opened tp 12,000 from under the gun, Gurgen Melkonyan called in the small blind, and Eugene Katchalov three-bet to 31,000 from the big blind. Astedt four-bet to 58,000, Melkonyan folded, and Katchalov five-bet to 100,000.

Astedt grabbed all of his red T25,000 chips, pushing out a six-bet, and Katchalov moved all in for 348,000. Astedt called.

Katchalov: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}
Astedt: {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

The board ran out {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, and Katchalov doubled to over 700,000 chips. Astedt was left with just 30,000 and busted shortly thereafter.

Volpe Gone

Paul Volpe opened to 12,000 in the cutoff, Sorel Mizzi three-bet to 31,000 from the big blind, and Volpe moved all in. Mizzi quickly called.

Volpe: {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Mizzi: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

The board ran out {2-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}, and Volpe was eliminated.

Mizzi Can't Call

Paul Volpe opened to 13,000 in the hijack seat, Olivier Busquet three-bet to 30,000 on his direct left, Sorel Mizzi cold four-bet to 66,000 on the button, and Volpe folded.

Not 10 seconds after Volpe's cards hit the muck, Busquet moved all in for 234,000 total. Mizzi tanked for the better part of 90 seconds, during which time he cut out enough chips to make the call, then folded.

"Eights?" Mizzi asked Busquet. "Were tens good?"

"What does good mean?" Busquet fired back.

"It was flipping," Fabian Quoss chimed it.

"Ace-queen of spades," Busquet then told Mizzi deadpan.

"Ace-queen," Mizzi echoed, claiming to have the same hand.

"Sucks for you," Busquet said. "The spot that is."

"Spades were coming," Mizzi joked.

"Oh No"

Juha Lauttamus open-shoved for 63,500 on the button, and Paul Volpe re-shoved for around 240,000 from the small blind. Oliver Busquet mucked, and the hands were tabled.

Lauttamus: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Volpe: {a-Spades}{7-Spades}

Lauttamus stood up, and when he saw the {7-Diamonds} in the window, he blurted, "Oh no."

The {2-Diamonds} and the {q-Spades} followed it on the flop. The turn was much nicer to Lauttamus, as the {k-Spades} gave him the lead once again. Volpe could still make a flush or trip sevens.

The {8-Hearts} bricked on the river however, and Lauttamus successfully doubled.

"You Eat the Sausage"

After an open from Olivier Busquet, Philipp Gruissem three-bet all in for what looked like 100,000 or so.

"Wow," Busquet said, then called.

Busquet: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Gruissem: {6-Spades}{5-Spades}

The board ran out {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}, and Gruissem was eliminated.

"Wasted my flush," Busquet joked.

Gruissem had just ordered a sausage before the hand, and a floor person asked the German if he still wanted the food delivered to him.

"You eat the sausage," he said to the gentleman, chuckling.

Carroll Can't Call, Then Busts

Philipp Gruissem opened to 10,000 from under the gun, Fabian Quoss called on the button, and James Carroll defended his big blind. The flop fell {j-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{10-Spades}, and the action checked to Quoss, who tossed out 20,000.

Carroll check-raised to 50,500, Gruissem folded, and Quoss moved all in. Carroll grabbed his entire stack, but thought better of it and mucked his hand.

"Show the eight of hearts," Gruissem told Quoss in German.

His fellow countryman obliged, opening up the {8-Hearts}. The entire table, even Carroll, laughed.

A few hands later, after unknown action, Carroll was eliminated.
