Multi-way Action for Antonius and Shaked

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
Patrik Antonius
Patrik Antonius

Patrik Antonius had only recently bought in but he was in action in a multi-way pot against Stephen Chidwick, Omri Shaked, Nikolaus Teichert and EPT Malta Main Event Champion Jean Montury.

Preflop, Montury, Shaked, Antonius and Chidwick all limped, with Teichert checking in the big blind. Going five-ways to a flop of {J-Spades}{4-Hearts}{K-Spades}, it was checked to Shaked who bet out 800. Everyone except Chidwick called, and the remaining four players saw the turn card which was the {Q-Diamonds}.

Again it was checked to Shaked, who this time bet out 2,700. Slowly but surely Antonius called, then Teichert, and then Montury. The pot at this point was nearly 15,000. The river card was the {5-Clubs}. For the third time it was checked to Shaked who shuffled his chips for a short while before sliding out 6,100. All the remaining players folded, giving Shaked a nice pot.

Checking Blind and Betting Blind

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

In an interesting hand, Rainer Kempe opened for 650 with blinds at 100/200, and got calls in the hijack and from Jonathan Khalifa in the big blind. The flop was {9-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and Khalifa check-called a continuation bet from Kempe for 1,900, with the player in the hijack folding.

Before the turn card was dealt, Khalifa checked in the dark. After the {Q-Clubs} was dealt, Kempe checked behind. And before the river was dealt, Khalifa bet 3,000 blind. The river card was the {10-Clubs}. Kempe thought for a bit before raising to 16,500. Khalifa insta-called.

The German player showed {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a rivered full house, and Khalifa's reaction was instant. "I had Ace-Jack, I had Ace-Jack," he said as he got out of his chair. This big pot certainly moved Kempe up the chip counts as he moved over 70,000 in chips.

And That's Why He's the PCA Champ

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
Kevin Schulz
Kevin Schulz

Back in January, Kevin Schulz made his mark on the poker world when he won the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure for $1,491,580. Schulz is in action today, and based on a call he just made, it's no wonder he is a poker champ.

We picked up the action with roughly 15,000 in the pot and a board reading {3-Spades}{9-Hearts}{k-Spades}{6-Spades}. Schulz had checked from the big blind, and Moldova's Valeriu Coca bet 5,675 from the hijack. Schulz wasted little time in making the call, and then checked the {2-Clubs} river. Coca fired out 7,750, and Schulz immediately tossed in a chip to signify a call.

Coca simply sent his cards to the muck, and that prompted Schulz to show that he had called with the {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for just ace high. Needless to say, the table was quite impressed.

Seiver Gives It Up to Murray

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Scott Seiver, who busted the Super High Roller earlier today in eighth place, opened for 500 under the gun and Pierre Neuville, who won a European Poker Lifetime Achievement Award during the EPT Malta, called from middle position. The player on the button came along, as did Niall Murray in the small blind, and four players saw a flop of {3-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}.

Murray checked, Seiver continued for 800, and Neuville called. The button folded, Murray called, and three players watched as the dealer burned and turned the {5-Spades}. Murray checked, Seiver bet 3,800, and Neuville got out of the way. Murray check-called yet again, and then fired out 10,600 after the {9-Diamonds} completed the board on the river.

Seiver gave it some thought, but ultimately released his hand. With that, Murray chipped up to 60,000.
