Game Over for Carrel

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Charlie Carrel
Charlie Carrel

In the previous hand, Charlie Carrel was under the gun and faced the bet of 20,000 by Koray Aldemir with the board reading {10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}.

Carrel had less than that behind and started some small talk, then Aldemir called time on him which didn't help to ease the pain. Carrel eventually folded and the next hand provided more fireworks.

Athanasios Fergiatakis raised to 1,900 and Aldemir called from two seats over. Carrel then moved all in from the big blind and Fergiatakis asked for a count. The shove of the Brit was for 13,700 and Fergiatakis called.

Aldemir reraised all in and again the dealer was asked for a count. Aldemir's shove was for 55,000, and Fergiatakis called after quite some consideration to create a three-way all in and put two opponents at risk.

Carrel: {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Aldemir: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}
Fergiatakis: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}

"Oh wow, I am ahead?!" Carrel let out and the flop came {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}. On the {9-Spades} turn, he improved to a set while the {Q-Clubs} river initially let Fergiatakis celebrate. The Dutchman then realized that Aldemir had the nut straight and scooped the entire pot.

Adrian Mateos
Adrian Mateos

The action started with a raise by Pasquale Grimaldi to 2,000 in late position and Adrian Mateos moved all in from the cutoff for his last 1,900. Akin Tuna called from the small blind and the big blind squeezed to 7,000. Grimaldi then moved all in for more than 40,000 and that forced folds from Tuna and the small blind.

Mateos: {K-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Grimaldi: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

The board ran out {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and Mateos was sent to the rail.

Iliodoros Kamatakis Eliminated by Leo Yan Ho Cheng

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante
Leo Yan Ho Cheng in the €50k Super High Roller
Leo Yan Ho Cheng in the €50k Super High Roller

On a flop of {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs} Iliodoros Kamatakis bet 5,000 and Leo Yan Ho Cheng called. The turn was the {10-Clubs} and Kamatakis asks Cheng to lift his arm to allow him a clear view of his stack. Both Cheng and Kamatakis have just around 25,000, with Cheng having the larger stack.

Kamatakis took a stack of 1,000 chips, sixteen of them to be precise, and placed them in the middle of the table. It represents the lion's share of his stack, and he backed it up by positioning the 500 and 100 value chips close to the betting line behind the larger stack

Cheng thought for 30 seconds or so before stacking his chips up and pushing them all in the middle, putting Kamatakis all in. Kamatakis put the rest of his stack in and was all in.

Cheng showed {10-Hearts}{j-Spades} for top pair and Kamatakis lookde deflated as he turned over {a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} for ace-high. The river was the {k-Clubs} and Kamatakis was eliminated

All Smiles... Maybe Not?

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante
Charlie Carrel
Charlie Carrel

Charlie Carrel and Andreas Hogh are having a good time over at table 37, chatting it up and laughing a lot. When Carrel opened from the cutoff, Hogh and Carrel already smiled about the potential spot that could arise. Hogh settled on a call, as did the small blind.

The flop was {J-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Spades} and the small blind checked. Carrel continued with 2,000 while staring at Hogh, who stared back. Both players couldn't hold back their smiles, even though a potential big pot was brewing. Hogh ended up calling and the small blind folded.

On the {8-Clubs} turn, Carrel took a little while before betting 8,000. That was enough to bring the game faces out on both players, and the smiles evaporated soon. Hogh took about a minute before sliding in a call.

The river was the {8-Hearts} and Carrel had no intention of slowing down. He cut out a bet of 20,000 and flicked it forward. Hogh and Carrel kept staring at each other, and after a minute Hogh tossed in the call.

Carrel quickly flashed {A-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for just ace high, leaving Hogh to scoop up the big pot with {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}

Vogelsang Reads Well, Runs Bad

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante
Christoph Vogelsang in yesterday's 50k Super High Roller
Christoph Vogelsang in yesterday's 50k Super High Roller

After earlier action, Majid Noubarian from Iran three-bet preflop to 1,100 on the button. Christoph Vogelsang four-bet to 3,200 from the small blind. Noubarian then five-bet to 8,500, and Vogelsang called.

The flop was {10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}, Vogelsang checked, Noubarian bet 5,000, and Vogelsang called.

On the {9-Hearts} turn, Vogelsang checked a second time, and Noubarian snap-shoved for 40,000. It was effectively for 20,000, Vogelsang's remaining stack. The German went deep in the tank and tried to chat up his opponent.

"If you have the best hand in poker, you win." Vogelsang remarked to a stoic Noubarian. The Iranian didn't respond to Vogelsang's attempts to extract information and stared in front of him. Suddenly, after five minutes of being stared down, he spoke up.

"Flush draw?" asked Noubarian.

"Flush draw? No, I told you what I had," smiled Vogelsang. Even with the slightly less tense atmosphere, the German couldn't decide whether to call off the rest of his stack. After eight minutes of tanking, his tablemates had enough and called the clock on Vogelsang. It took the German thirty more seconds before he smashed one of his chip stacks in the middle.

Majid Noubarian: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}
Christoph Vogelsang: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

As it turned out, it was Vogelsang's opponent who had the flush draw. The German was in great shape to double up, but still needed to dodge an ace or heart to survive. The river, however, was the {4-Hearts}, completing Noubarian's flush. The Iranian lets out an audible "Yes!" and stacked up Vogelsang's chips, with the latter head-shakingly seeking out his friends at the rail.
