Lynskey Takes from Benitez

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Alexander Lynskey cashed six times at the 2016 World Series of Poker and the biggest score of the Australian came earlier this year on home soil. Lynskey finished 4th in the 2016 Aussie Millions Poker Championship Main Event, for a payday of A$ 445,000.

Lynskey just got involved in a bigger hand with table neighbor Francisco Benitez and the duo headed to the {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{10-Clubs} river. Benitez bet 5,300 out of the small blind and Lynskey then raised to 15,000 from the button.

Benitez folded and was shown the {5-Diamonds} by Lynskey, who raked in the pot while enjoying a massage.

November Niner Vojtech Ruzicka in the Field

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

The flop came {q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{4-Spades} and it checked to 2016 November Niner Vojtech Ruzicka. He finished 45th in the EPT Barcelona Main Event two years ago, and will be looking for a good run in preparation for his trip back to Vegas in a couple of months' time.

Ruzicka bet 2,150 and his opponent called. The turn was the {j-Clubs} and both players checked. The river was the {3-Hearts} and this time his opponent lead for 3,200. Ruzicka quickly called. His opponent tabled {q-Hearts}{5-Hearts} but Ruzicka quickly turned over {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and started gathering the chips to add to his stack.

Table 47 is shaping up to be one of the interesting tables in the room, as Sam 'SamSquid' Grafton and Byron Kaverman sat down at the table with Dominik Nitsche and Andreas Hoivold.

Kaverman played the €50.000 Super High Roller earlier this week, while Grafton is one of the voices of the Global Poker League and known for his quality instructional videos. Both players are seated to the right of Nitsche.

Andrey Konopelko Chipping Up Nicely

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

It is often said that you can't win a tournament on the first day, but you can certainly lose it, as demonstrated earlier by Christoph Vogelsang.

On a flop of {3-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} Andry Konopelko's opponent checked and the Belarussian bet 500. His opponent called. The pair checked the turn which was the {q-Diamonds} before the {10-Diamonds} was dealt on the river.

Again his opponent checked to him, allowing Konopelko to bet 1,000. After some thought his opponent called, but mucked when shown {a-Spades}{q-Clubs} for top pair.

Ben Heath Talks His Way to Chips

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Move over William Kassouf, there's a new motormouth in town. It appears that Benjamin Heath might have got some lessons in tabletalk from his fellow Brit, as demonstrated in this hand against Simon Boss.

Heath was facing a 6,000 bet from Boss into a pot of around 10,000 on a board of {10-Spades}{5-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. After some consideration, Heath moved enough chips forward to put his opponent all in.

There was a moment's silence before Boss spoke up: "It's hard to fold a set," he said.

"You can!" replied Heath, "You have 18k and..." (he paused to check the tournament clock), "Six levels. A whole day of fun times to be had."

Boss counted out his stack, but Heath wasn't letting up with the talking. "One fold for a whole day of fun. I think that's a very fair price," he continued.

Eventually, Boss threw a single chip forward signalling a call. Heath turned over {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} for a rivered top set. True to his word, Boss showed {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and started to gather his things.

"So lucky," said Boss.

"Yes," came the one-word reply from Heath.
