Mike McDonald Busts to Vasili Firsau

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Mike McDonald
Mike McDonald

Among the former EPT champions still in contention was also Mike McDonald, but his challenge to become the second two-time winner has just come to an end.

Vasili Firsau raised to 10,000 from middle position and McDonald called in the big blind. On the {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop, McDonald checked and Firsau continued for 10,000. McDonald called and both checked the {5-Diamonds} turn. On the {3-Diamonds} river, McDonald checked again and Firsau pushed all in.

McDonald, who had 38,500 left, tanked for some time and eventually called it off with the {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. Firsau held {A-Hearts}{K-Spades} and that was it for the former EPT Dortmund champion.

Durban Delivered by Deadly Turn

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Abel Durban moved all-in for 50,000 in early position and was called only by Simion Gunter, the German having just a fraction above Durban's stack. Durban was up against it with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} against Gunter's {A-Spades}{K-Spades}, but the flop of {8-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{5-Spades} put him ahead.

The dealer delivered the dreaded flush on the turn {9-Spades} , but even after the meaningless river {8-Clubs} ended the hand, Durban took a second to notice the flush had ended his dream after that false hope on the flop. He saw the bad news as the dealer took away his chips, however, and politely wished Gunter and everyone else at the table the best of luck.

Iani Tulica and Abdelkader Benhalima Eliminated

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

The bustouts are following each other up in rapid succession at the start of day three. Iani Tulica and Abdelkader Benhalima were among the latest to fall. Tulica cold four-bet shoved {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} into {J-Hearts}{J-Spades} and didn't improve, Benhalima lost the classic race with ace-king versus pocket queens and headed for the payout desk.

Narcis-Gabriel Nedelcu's ace-king however, had more luck against Pavel Veksler's pocket jacks. Both players got their money in preflop and the Romanian doubled up after spiking a king on the flop.

Wahid Patel Busts to Rumen Nanev

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Rumen Nanev open-shoved from the small blind and Wahid Patel, who had only 40,000 left, called all in.

Nanev: {J-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Patel: {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

The board ran out {4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades} and Nanev made a flush to bust Patel.

Jose Quintas Doubles Through Stefan Huber

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

"Time on table one please," the dealer announced and Jose Quintas was in the think tank in the big blind. The pay jump was near according to the screens and Stefan Huber had pushed from the small blind. Ronny Kaiser, who won EPT Tallinn, called the clock on Quintas and the latter eventually called for his last 54,500.

Huber: {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Quintas: {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}

"I told you I have a good hand," Huber said, then the flop came {7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}. "Okay, that's not such a good hand anymore," Huber added. The {5-Hearts} turn and {8-Hearts} river changed nothing and Huber was left with very few chips.

Jason Koon Doubles Through Abdelhakim Zoufri

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

A player from early position opened to 9,000, and Abdelhakim Zoufri called in the cutoff. Jason Koon then three-bet to 28,500 from the small blind and Zoufri was the only caller.

The flop came {5-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and Koon continued for 34,500. Zoufri raised to 77,000 and Koon moved all in. Zoufri called and tabled {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a flush draw against Koon's {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} for top pair.

The turn was the {j-Diamonds} giving Zoufri additional gutshot outs, but the river was the {5-Spades} meaning Koon doubled his stack to just under 350,000.

Gruissem Doubles Through Tremzin

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Philipp Gruissem
Philipp Gruissem

Gleb Tremzin opened under the gun to 10,000 and was re-raised by the player to his left, German Super High Roller crusher and REG founder Philipp Gruissem, who slid out 25,000. Tremzin shoved over the top for well over half a million chips and Gruissem snap-called for his stack of 134,500.

Gruissem: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}
Gremzin: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}

The board of {10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{10-Clubs} saw Gruissem stay ahead with the minimum of sweat, and he's right back into contention with 278,000. Tremzin can afford the hit, still on 400,000 chips.

Martin Acre Llobera Eliminated By Stephen Malone

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Stephen Malone raised in late position and Martin Acre Llobera defended his big blind. On a flop of {7-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs}, Arce check-called a bet from Malone, then led out himself for 12,500 on the {8-Diamonds} turn. Malone moved in and Arce called around 30,000 more off after some consideration.

Stephen Malone: {K-Clubs}{5-Hearts}
Martin Acre Llobera: {8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

Acre was drawing very thin, and the {J-Diamonds} on the river was of no avail to the Argentinian, who was eliminated.

Paul Dando Eliminated by Alessandro Borsa

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Paul Dando came into the day as one of the short stacks and open-shoved his last 36,000 in from the hijack. Alessandro Borsa called from one seat over and all players behind them got out of the way.

Dando: {A-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Borsa: [Kh;Qd]

While Dando had gotten it in as a slight favorite, the {K-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop was bad news. The {3-Spades} turn and {8-Spades} river completed the board and Dando was sent to the rail.

Andreas Bremer Sent to the Rail

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Glib Kovtunov raised to 9,000 and short stack Andreas Bremer shoved his short stack from two seats over. The blinds folded and Kovtunov called.

Bremer: {K-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Kovtunov: {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

The {J-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} board failed to improve Bremer and he was eliminated.
