Cortellazzi Doubles Through Macovei

Level 19 : 50,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

A huge all-in and call on the flop of {6-Clubs}{4-Spades}{Q-Spades} saw Neculai Macovei all-in with {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and he was considerably behind Andrea Cortellazzi's {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and likely to double-up his opponent. That happened when the board ran out {K-Spades} on the turn and {2-Clubs} on the river.

Coretellazzi leaps to 897,000, while Macovei dwindles down to 130,000. He needs a great final 15 minutes of the Main Event here in Barcelona.

Philipp Gruissem Doubles And Then Some

Level 19 : 50,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Philipp Gruissem
Philipp Gruissem

Germany's Philipp Gruissem was trending down in the last hour, but scored a much needed double-up-and-then-some in the last level of the day. Adem Marjanovic opened to 22,000 in early position and Rui Sousa three-bet the button to 59,000. Gruissem shoved all in for 86,000 from the big blind, Marjanovic called and Sousa put the few extra chips in.

Philipp Gruissem: {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}
Rui Sousa: {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

The flop {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} paired Gruissem, but gave Sousa some hope with a double belly-buster straight draw. The turn {4-Hearts} and river {3-Clubs} were bricks, and Gruissem raked in the pot.

Wael Sarkis Holds and Doubles

Level 19 : 50,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Tomas Macnamara raised to 22,000 from early position and Wael Sarkis then three-bet all in for 227,000 from the cutoff. Macnamara asked for a count and eventually called, only to see Sarkis with the slightly superior kicker.

Sarkis: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Macnamara: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

The {10-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts} was even worse news for Macnamara, as Sarkis had the flush draw on top. Neither the {7-Clubs} turn nor the {5-Spades} river provided a miracle and Sarkis doubled.

Elcio Luiz Romao's Kicker Fails

Level 19 : 50,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Elcio Luiz Romao was all in for around 130,000 with the {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} and Georgios Zisimopoulos looked him up with the {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}. The board came {J-Spades}{8-Spades}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and Zisimopoulos paired his jack to claim the pot and eliminate Romao.

Gimbel is a Goner

Level 19 : 50,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Harrison Gimbel

Harrison Gimbel (pictured) will not be winning the EPT Barcelona Main Event this season, after busting with just 45 minutes to go in the day's play.

Gimbel was all-in for 220,000 with {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} on the button and Jean-Jacques Zeitoun made the call {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} in the big blind.

The board of {8-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} was cruel for Gimbel as Zeitoun hit the river to bust him. As he did so, he slammed his palm down onto the table in celebration. Gimbel was humble in defeat and wished the table good luck as he made his way out.

Flush for Jerome Sgorrano

Level 19 : 50,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Alejandro Belluccia raised to 22,000 from under the gun and Dorian Rios Pavon on the button as well as Jerome Sgorrano in the big blind. On the {Q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop, the action checked to Rios Pavon who bet 44,000. Only Sgorrano called and the {2-Clubs} on the turn went check, check.

After the {K-Hearts} river, Sgorrano bet 65,000 and Rios Pavon quickly called, then sighed and mucked when Sgorrano showed him {10-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for a flush.

Alexander Greenblatt Doubles Through Nicolas Chouity

Level 19 : 50,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Pavel Veksler opened to 23,000 from the cutoff and Alexander Greenblatt three-bet all in for 59,000 from the small blind. Greenblatt was the second shortest chip stack at the last break, and is hoping to get his tournament back on track in the last level before the end of Day 3.

Day 2 chip leader Nicolas Chouity was in the big blind and he thought a while before four-betting to 100,000. Veksler folded and the cards were turned over.

Greenblatt's tournament life was in the balance with {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} while Chouity held {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. However, the queen on a {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop set him well on his way to a double up, and the board ran out {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} securing that Greenblatt survived.

House over House Between Macnamara and Zeiter

Level 19 : 50,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Tomas Macnamara raised to 22,000 from the cutoff and Diego Zeiter called in the big blind.

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{8-Spades} and both players checked. The turn was the {j-Diamonds} and Zeiter checked to Macnamara who bet 27,000. Zeiter then check-raised his opponent to 60,000 and Macnamara called.

The river was the {8-Clubs}. Zeiter bet 100,000 and Macnamara snap-called.

Zeiter turned over {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a full house, eights full of jacks, but Macnamara had rivered a bigger house with {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}, jacks full of eights, to take the pot and move up over 500,000 in chips

Zisimopoulos And Ruzicka Having Fun

Level 19 : 50,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Vojtech Ruzicka
Vojtech Ruzicka

Georgios Zisimopoulos and Vojtech Ruzicka are seated next to each other and letting the chips fly. Zisimopoulos already four-bet Ruzicka a couple of times, showing monsters like queen-ten offsuit to rub it in. In their latest clash, it now was Ruzicka with the last laugh.

On a {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}{6-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} board, Ruzicka checked, Zisimopoulos bet 63,000, and Ruzicka check-shoved for 430,000. After a minute, a disgusted Zisimopoulos reluctantly folded {A-}{K-} face-up, only to get rubbed the {8-Clubs} in his face by Ruzicka. Poker is fun.

Ping Liu Finds an Ace

Level 19 : 50,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Peyman Luth (sunglasses) Ping Liu (left)

Peyman Luth raised to 25,000 from the button and Ping Liu shoved from one seat over in the small blind for 201,000. Luth spent more than two minutes before making up his mind and eventually called.

Liu: {A-Spades}{3-Diamonds}
Luth: {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

When the German saw the cards of his opponent, he was relieved. But it only lasted for a second, as the flop came {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, nd the expression turned into frustration. Neither the {J-Clubs} turn nor the {10-Hearts} river changed anything and Liu doubled to get almost even in chips.
