Gieles vs Tamasauskas

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Luuk Gieles
Luuk Gieles

The last hand of the level took a bit longer. With a pot of 55,000 chips to the {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop, Luuk Gieles checked in the small blind and Vladas Tamasauskas bet 23,800. The Dutchman called and they checked down the {5-Spades} turn before the {2-Spades} river saw Gieles also check. Tamasauskas had around 84,000 behind and checked, too, with Gieles flipping over {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}.

Tamasauskas revealed {9-Spades}{5-Hearts} and Gieles nodded before heading into his now shortened break of just 15 minutes.

Zinno Short

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

A pot of more than 50,000 chips emerged until the {8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} turn and Sergey Lebedev checked in the big blind. Anthony Zinno bet what looked like 40,000 from early position and Lebedev called. The duo checked the {Q-Spades} river and Lebedev's {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} won the pot, leaving Zinno short.

Dietrich Fast just four-bet out of the small blind after a raise to 6,500 by Dominik Nitsche and a three-bet by the player on the button. The 40,000 of the German proved to be enough to take down the pot.

No Words Needed

Fabrice Soulier
Fabrice Soulier

Fabrice Soulier left the tournament area without any emotion or word, just a sad expression on the face. According to Luuk Gieles, Marco Leonzio had opened, Soulier three-bet with his stack of around 25 big blinds and then called the four-bet shove with pocket jacks. Leonzio had ace-king and won the flip.

Geilich Runs Into Aces

Ludovic Geilich

Bernardo Dias opened to 7,000 from under the gun and Joao Veira called from one seat over before the action reached Ludovic Geilich. The Scot jammed the button for 59,400 with pocket kings and Dias folded, Vieira snap-called with the {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}. A blank board of {Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{7-Hearts} saw Geilich departure and Vieira continued his decent start into Day 2.

Family Pot before Table Breaks

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Sylvain Loosli raised from under the gun and all his six opponents made the call to create a family pot to the flop {K-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. The action was checked around and Connor Drinan then bet the {4-Diamonds} turn for 15,000. Ibrahim Ghassan and Sam Chartier were the only two callers before the {6-Spades} fell on the river.

Drinan continued for 25,000 and Ghassan raised, but only put in 40,000 chips. The dealer reminded him to make it at least 50,000, to which the Lebanese obliged. Chartier folded, Drinan gave it some thought and called to then muck to the {5-Clubs}{5-Spades} of Ghassan.

Right after, the table broke after Rafael Moraes three-bet shoved for 70,000 and ran his pair of eights into the higher pair of Samuel Vousden.

Drinan Doubles Duarte

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Connor Drinan
Connor Drinan

On a turn of {7-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} Luiz Duarte lead for 32,100 and Connor Drinan made the call. On the river which was the {5-Spades} Duarte moved all-in for his remaining 68,000 chips into a pot of roughly 90,000. Drinan thought before making the call. Duarte showed {8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a flush.

"He has to show," said Day 1 chip leader Dominik Nitsche, and Drinan reluctantly turned over {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for a failed hero call with just top pair.
