Tsanev and Visser Going Up

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

On the river of a board {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds} board with an already quite big pot, Nikolay Tsanev bet 6,800 with around 7,000 chips behind. His opponent to the left tanked for some time and then released the cards into the muck. Tsanev double-checked his cards and eventually flashed the {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.

One hand later, Gaetano Dell'Aera opened and picked up two callers including Ruben Visser. The Dutchman bet the {K-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop for 1,300 and both opponents called. On the {A-Spades} turn, the action was checked to the player on the button and his bet of 2,100 scooped the pot uncontested.

Visser is still up early on and Guy Goosens sat down in the nine seat only moments later. One table over is Alen Bilic, who finished runner up to Niall Farrell at the EPT12 Malta Main Event.

Vlad Third Player Out

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

At the start of the second level, another seat open was waiting to be picked up and the ticket belonged to Darie Vlad. Jennifer Shahade lost some chips early on while Frank Williams on the same table won a fairly big pot already.

Early Pot between Behr and Zijp

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

In the early stages of big tournaments like the Main Event it can be slow going. So when a tournament reporter hears "Floor Table 16!" shouted across the room you make a beeline to that table.

The board was {9-Spades}{2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{5-Hearts} but the controversy had started on the turn where Peder Behr from Sweden had checked, and the dealer, thinking Danny Van Zijp had checked, dealt the turn at the precise moment Van Zijp had bet 300 and Behr had called.

The tournament officials decided, after much discussion including tablemate Ludovich Geilich, that the {5-Hearts} would be reshuffled into the deck as the action on the turn was considered completed once Behr had called. The dealer reshuffled the deck and instead the {9-Diamonds} was dealt.

Behr checked and Van Zijp bet 800. Behr called and tabled {a-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} to scoop the pot. "You still calling river if it was the {5-Hearts}?" asked Geilich. "Of course" came the reply. Peder Behr chipped up after a small but interesting hand

Welcome to Team Online

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante
Lex Veldhuis
Lex Veldhuis

Lex Veldhuis has recently joined the PokerStars Team Online and this is the first event he plays under the spade flag. Bart Lybaert sits one table over and the Belgian has had some deep runs in the EPT already, though his two biggest cashes come from victories in the Eureka Poker Tour Rozvadov in 2013 and the France Poker Series in Lill last year.

ElkY's Straight Paid Off

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

The TV crew was just filming Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and the Frenchman and PokerStars Team Pro got involved in a bigger pot. ElkY bet the {K-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Clubs} river for 7,500 and his opponent eventually called to then muck to the {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. ElkY is off to a flying start and next to him is a former EPT champion in David Vamplew.

Already Two Seat Open

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Somehow Serdar Demiroglu got into a raising war from the button and table neighbor Breixo Bastian Gonzales Pena in the small blind got his stack in, Demiroglu called it off and showed the {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}. The Spaniard flipped over {A-Hearts}{A-Spades} and the board ran out {J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{9-Spades} and the stacks were counted.

Gonzales Pena was all in for 28,875 and Demiroglu had 175 chips more, those vanished soon after. Surprisingly, he was not the first player out as Terence Jordon's ticket was already waiting to be picked up as well.

Lodden's River Bet Gets it Done

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

When we got to Team PokerStars Pro Johnny Lodden's table he had bet 4,500 into a pot of roughly that size against his opponent Marcin Chmielewski. The board read {7-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Chmielewski was giving it some serious thought. Not enough however for us to rename the game 'Chmielewski Thinks'.

In the end the Pole made the call and Lodden tabled {5-Spades}{5-Hearts} for a full house, scooping the pot

Bendik and Mandic Slipping

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Goran Mandic and Jan Bendik saw a three-way flop of {K-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and called the bet of 225 by Mark James Walsh. On the {J-Hearts} turn, Walsh then fired 750 and Mandic folded, Bendik called. The former EPT player of the year check-called a final bet with the {K-Hearts} and Walsh showed him the {7-Spades}{7-Hearts} for a full house.

A few minutes later, Mandic had dropped a few chips more but the online regular from Croatia has plenty of time to turn things around.
