The Greeks are Coming

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Alexios Zervos has knocked out yet another player while fellow Greek Andreas Vlachos from one table over also increased his stack as well.

Zervos raised with {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and was called by an opponent with a stack of 130,000. On the {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop, Zervos bet, the opponent raised and the Greek then shoved with his many outs to get called by {6-Spades}{4-Spades}. The {A-Diamonds} turn improved Zervos and a blank river locked up the hand for him.

Better To Be Lucky Than Good

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Willliam Arruda bet 100,000 into a pot of the same size, heads up with Peter Akery, holding a stack of the same size, on a {k-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{9-Clubs} board to the turn.

Akery agonized over the decision for a a good while and eventually called with the {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}. Arruda had the {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}, and had to feel like he was about to make some big strides up the chip count board.

However, it was a case of just enough outs for Akery, and he spiked one, nailing the {k-Diamonds} river to make trips, double up and leave Arruda quite short.

Chidwick Doubles Bendik

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

European Poker Tour Season 9 Player of the Year Jan Bendik opened to 11,500 from early position. Stephen Chidwick three bet to 33,000 from late position and Bendik made the call.

The flop came {5-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and Bendik checked. Chidwick made a continuation bet of 25,000 and he and Bendik eventually got it in for 129,000 each after Bendik check raised.

Bendik was the proud owner of {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} while Chidwick had to do with {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}. The {K-Clubs} on the turn and {2-Hearts} on the river were good cards for Bendik and he let out a small fist pump to celebrate his double up.

Van Zadelhoff Busts Two

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Right after the bubble had burst, Davidi Kitai had shoved all in from the button for 60,000. Van Zadelhoff called from the big blind with {K-}{K-} and was up against Kitai's {8-}{9-}. Kitai made a straight on the turn and Van Zadelhoff dropped down to 140,000.

Not much later though, he would get all of it back, and then some.

Mike Andreassen open shoved his last 60,000 to the middle from early position and in late position Alejandro Perez Torres followed suit committing his 120,000 stack. Action folded to Steven van Zadelhoff in the big blind and the Dutchman called.

Steven van Zadelhoff: {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}
Mike Andreassen: {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Alejandro Perez Torres: {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

The flop came {8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, doing nothing really for anyone. The {3-Clubs} on the turn gave Torres a flush draw, but the {5-Diamonds} on the river was a blank and Van Zadelhoff knocked out both of his opponents.

Calamusa Bad Beats Routier

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The chips went in preflop and Jeremy Routier found himself in great shape to double up around 120,000 chips with the {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}. Pierre Calamusa looked him up with the {A-Spades}{J-Spades} and got there on a board of {8-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Spades}{4-Spades}{5-Clubs}.

Erwann Pecheux looked up from his massage and said "it wasn't me!" while the pot was shipped to the "crazy Vietnamese" - Calamusa goes by the nickname of LeVietF0u.

A New Chip Leader in the House

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Evangelos Terzoudis
Evangelos Terzoudis

After a limp and a raise to 14,000 by Dominykas Karmazinas, Evangelos Terzoudis three-bet to 45,000. The Lithuanian called and they headed to the flop of {Q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{5-Spades} and Terzoudis continued for 60,000. Karmazinas shoved for 186,000 and was called to find himself in bad shape.

Karmazinas: {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}
Terzoudis: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

Neither the {3-Spades} turn nor the {4-Clubs} river changed anything and the Lithuanian was gone while Terzoudis is now just below 1 million in chips.

Salter Shaken

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The UK's Jack Salter got it in preflop with the {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} versus Irishman Dermot Blain's {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}.

Kings held on a {7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts} board and Salter said goodbye.

In The Wake of the Bubble

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

With short stacks shoving all around the room and a mad rush of min-cashers headed to the to the cage, fortunes change fast in the wake of the bubble on the European Poker Tour.

Team PokerStars SportsStars Fatima Moreira de Melo felt the pain of that, going into the bubble with a big stack, then finding herself on the wrong end of the set-over-set debacle reported earlier. Moments ago, she continued to slide down the counts, raising it up to 12,000 preflop, then calling off when France's Herve Boulan shipped 34.500 right behind her.

Moreira de Melo called with the {a-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and Boulan was racing for his tournament life, holding the {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}.

Fours held on {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades} board.

Meanwhile, on the other end of the room, Greek player Evangelos Terzoudis has just been moved to a new seat after a number of short stacks hit the exit at his table and it broke. He brought more than 740,000 with him, and apparently, a spot near the top of the counts.

Cody Hits the Rail

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

As we made our way to the tournament area, we ran into Jake Cody. He was standing in line to register for another tournament, so we were pretty sure he had been knocked out of the Main Event.

"I scraped into the money," said Cody, "and then shipped queen jack into ace king."
