Fatima Finished

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Fatima Moreira de Melo
Fatima Moreira de Melo

Team PokerStars SportStar Fatima Moreira de Melo's stellar run in the 2016 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino EPT Grand Final Main Event has come to a close.

She got her last 300,000 in with the {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} on an {8-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Spades} flop heads-up with Thi Xoa Nguyen. Moreira de Melo had a gutshot straight-flush draw, but Nguyen was already there with the {k-Spades}{9-Spades} flush.

Neither the {a-Diamonds} turn, nor the {5-Hearts} river could save Moreira de Melo and as she hit the rail, Nguyen pushed well over the one-million mark.

The Cookie Jar

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Start-of-day chip leader Marcin Chmielewski raised it up on the button, then called an Adrien Allain three-bet from the big blind of 80,000.

They went heads up to a {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop and Allain continued for 55,000. Chmielewski called and the dealer burned and turned the {2-Diamonds}. Allain checked, then called when Chmielewski took over the lead, betting 80,000.

The river brought the {7-Diamonds} and another check from Allain. Chmielewski bet 80,000 again, and Allain made the relatively quick call with the {q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}.

Second pair was good, with Chmielewski truing to bluff holding the {9-Clubs}{10-Spades}.

Friendly Clash Results in Metaal's Elimination

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Govert Metaal
Govert Metaal

Govert Metaal just moved all in from the button for 120,000 and Fatima Moreira de Melo re-shoved from the small blind. The big blind folded and the clash between two good friends went as follows.

Metaal: {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}
Moreira de Melo: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}

The board ran out {Q-Spades}{K-Clubs}{6-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and Metaal was sent to the rail, while Moreira de Melo boosted her stack back up to 350,000.

"Of course I'd rather win the chips from someone else," Moreira de Melo told us after the hand, but with around 20 big blinds she's now in a much better spot.

Saout Sends Tilmant Home

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Antoine Saout made short work of Pierre Tilmant and his short stack.

Holding the {a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, Saout called a Tilmant {q-Hearts}{7-Clubs} shove for 185,000, and ace-high held on an {8-Clubs}{2-Spades}{3-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{4-Spades} board to put the Belgian on the rail.

Dowling Flips For It

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Chris Dowling
Chris Dowling

Chris Dowling got it all in during a battle of the blinds with Ariel Celestino that saw a couple pf raises back and forth.

In the end, Dowling's tournament life was riding on the {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} in a flip with Celestino's {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}. Dowling took it on a {q-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} board to double up, and knock Celestino down from his peak of just over one million chips.
