Charette and Spadijer Show Premium Hands

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Aleksandar Spadijer opened from under the gun and Simon Charette just called from one seat over to see the flop come {Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{3-Clubs}. Spadijer continued for 5,200 and Charette called before the {J-Diamonds} turn saw a check by Spadijer, a bet of 13,000 by Charette and a call. Both then checked the {Q-Spades} river and Spadijer showed {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}.

Charette had that beat with {A-Clubs}{A-Spades} and moaned "oh my god, I am the worst ever," wondering how the pot stayed that small.

Sidhu No More

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

A day to forget for former EPT London finalist Kully Sidhu has come to an early end. Isidoro Barrena raised from the button and Sidhu shoved the remainder of his short stack for around 25,000 in the big blind with {K-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. Barrena called with {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and the board ran out {A-Clubs}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs} to eliminate the Brit.

Barbarez Busts to Lykov

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Maxim Lykov
Maxim Lykov

Maxim Lykov raised from the hijack and picked up a single caller in Sergej Barbarez on the button. On the {Q-Spades}{J-Clubs}{6-Spades} flop, Lykov continued for 5,500 and Barbarez called before the {2-Hearts} on the turn slowed down the Russian. Lykov checked and Barbarez bet 6,600. Lykov check-raised to 20,000 and Barbarez moved all in for 105,700.

After spending quite some time in the think tank, staring over at his opponent, Lykov called and Barbarez just nodded.

Sergej Barbarez: {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}
Maxim Lykov: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

The {7-Hearts} on the river was a blank and Andy Black said "good call" over to Lykov. The Russian replied "not sure, I didn't like to call 106,000 after my bet," while raking in the big pot.

Antonin Duda: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Nimrod Mualem: {A-Hearts}{4-Clubs}

The {5-Spades} turn and {2-Diamonds} river completed the board and also a straight for Mualem, sending two-time EPT Main Event seventh place finisher Duda to the rail.

Arnaud Mattern Doubles With Tens

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

2007 EPT Prague Main Event champion Arnaud Mattern from France just doubled up to around 60,000 chips.

He got all his chips in the middle holding {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} on a {2-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop. His opponent was holding {9-}{6-}. The {6-Clubs} appeared on the turn, however, neither a six nor nine appeared on the river with the {3-Hearts} completing the board to bring Mattern's stack to around 35 big blinds.

Korotkikh Doubles Big Through Odeen

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Mikhail Korotkikh
Mikhail Korotkikh

With around 35,000 in the pot and the turn reading {K-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Spades}{9-Spades}, Mikhail Korotkikh moved all in. Jerry Odeen from one seat over asked for a count and the shove of Korotkikh was for double the pot, 72,100 in total.

"Sorry guys, this will take some time," Odeen said and tried to get some information from his opponent. "I have a big big hand," he added and Korotkikh leaned over and said "English, no," prompting laughs from two other Russians at the table.

After half a minute, Korotkikh said "time" and Odeen shook his head. Tournament staff came over and the Russian said "no time, he is my friend," almost hugging Odeen. However, a few minutes later he then indeed called the clock. With 30 seconds left, Odeen called for most of his stack.

Mikhail Korotkikh: {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}
Jerry Odeen: {K-Hearts}{J-Spades}

"Damn, I thought I was ahead," came from Odeen, who saw the blank {6-Clubs} on the river to drop him back to around starting stack.

A Stern Beat

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Ofer Zvi Stern was on the button with 15,000 in front of him on a board of {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. An opponent in middle position check-shoved for 40,300, giving the former November Niner pause. He did decide to call with {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and was best against {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}. His opponent binked a jack on the turn to double, though.
