Nicolas Chouity Leads After Day 2 of EPT13 Prague; Chases Second Title After Bubble Bursts

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Nicolas Chouity on Top After Day 2 in Prague
Nicolas Chouity on Top After Day 2 in Prague

The last ever Main Event of the PokerStars European Poker Tour saw 593 players return to the tables of the Hilton Hotel in Prague and another 13 hopefuls ponied up €5,300 to boost the overall attendance to 1,192. This set a new record for the festival in the Czech capital and the massive prize pool of €5,781,200 will be shared among the top 231 spots, with a first-place payout of €774,600.

After six levels of 75 minutes each, the field had been cut down to the last 232 and the clock was stopped to set up hand-for-hand play. It would take another 45 minutes and several survived all ins to determine the bubble boy and it was Attila Valentai, who lost a flip with ace-king against the black pocket eights of Mike Brandau. Valentai spiked a pike on the flop, but Brandau caught one of the two remaining eights on the river to let the bubble burst and all survivors bag up. Niko Koop would have been forced all in two hands later and secured the min-cash of €7,560 with a mere 1,500 chips.

Once all was done and dusted, a familiar face appeared on top of the counts: EPT6 Grand Final champion Nicolas Chouity built his stack early on and always shined in the top ten, eventually claiming 644,000 to his name for the Day 2 lead. Other big stacks include Eduards Kudrjavcevs (547,000), Nandor Solyom (526,500), Matas Cimbolas (481,500), Pedro Lamarca (480,000), Apostolos Bechrakis (478,500), Ludovic Lacay (438,000), Thomas Muehloecker (430,000), Samuel Vousden (428,500), Artur Rudziankov (415,500) and Benjamin Pollak (407,500). Lamarca would have been the likely chip leader after running hot and busting opponent after opponent, but Anton Petrov's jack-eight for two pair beat the six-three of Lamarca on the money bubble for a huge pot.

Other notables returning tomorrow for Day 3 include Pablo Gordillo (313,000), David Peters (305,000), Fabrice Soulier (200,000), [Removed:197] (199,500), Juha Helppi (179,000), Ari Engel (106,500) and the Team PokerStars Pros Felipe Ramos (106,500) and Vanessa Selbst (69,000).

Among the plethora of eliminations throughout the day were the two Day 1 chip leaders Ronald Morandini and Henrik Hecklen , the Team PokerStars Pros Luca Pagano, Theo Jorgensen and Johnny Lodden, France's Team Online Gabriel Nassif, Sports Star Fatima Moreira de Melo, Ronny Kaiser, Roberto Romanello, EPT13 Barcelona champion Sebastian Malec and runner-up Uri Reichenstein, Dominik Panka and Charlie Carrel to name just a few.

Carrel was all in short with ace-four suited and failed to improve against ace-eight suited. The Brit then jumped into the newly added €25,500 Single-Day High Roller and reached yet another final table. Sergej Barbarez's move with ace-jack for second pair was no good against the ace-queen suited of Maxim Lykov and Tony Dunst ran with ace-ten into pocket kings on a ten-high board.

The last-ever EPT Main Event will recommence with one hour and 11 minutes left in level 15 at blinds of 2,000-4,000 with a running ante of 500 and another four levels of 90 minutes each will follow up on that. The PokerNews live reporting team will be there to cover all the action until a winner is crowned next Monday, so make sure to tune back in regularly.

With the bubble burst, all players bagged up their chips and will come back tomorrow with 1:11:06 left in level 15. Everyone has €7,560 guaranteed for their efforts and five levels of 90 minutes each will cut down the field considerably. Play resumes at noon local time on Friday, the full chip counts and redraw will be published when PokerNews receives them.

Attila Valentai Bubbles, Day 2 Ends With Everyone in the Money

There were two players all in for their tournament lives holding pocket aces and got them to hold and survived. The bubble broke on a third table, but not without some excitement.

Mike Brandau opened from middle position to 8,000 before Attila Valentai three-bet all in for 40,000 from the cutoff and got a call from Brandau.

Attila Valentai: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Mike Brandau: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}

Valentai appeared to be safe once a king hit the {k-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop. The {J-Clubs} on the turn was another safe card from Valentai who was only fading two outs. However, the {8-Hearts} spiked the river to send Valentai to the rail on the bubble and send Brandau's stack up to 209,500.

Meanwhile, all remaining players will come back for Day 3 with the knowledge that they have made at least the minimum cash of €7,560.

At the same time as the Martin Kabrhel split pot, another table had an all in and a call.

Stefan Fabian had limped the button and Dmitrii Deviatov moved all in from the big blind. Fabian snap-called for 96,100 and the cards were tabled.

Dmitrii Deviatov: {K-Spades}{7-Spades}

The board came {Q-Spades}{2-Spades}{3-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Fabian survived the spade draw to double on the bubble.

"Lucky River" Keeps Bubble Going

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Martin Kabrhel - Adrien Allain
Martin Kabrhel - Adrien Allain

A player in early position opened to 6,500, and Martin Kabrhel tanked awhile in the small blind. He was warned by a tournament official to speed up his play or he'd have an automatic clock, something Kabrhel took exception to. He made it 26,100 eventually. Adrien Allain was in the big blind and cold four-bet to 20,000. Kabrhel called after the opener mucked. The two saw {a-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Spades} flop, and Kabrhel checked. Allain bet 20,000 and Kabrhel called. Both checked the turn for a final board of {a-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Spades}{k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. Kabrhel thought about three or four minutes and bet 27,500 shortly after Allain called a clock. Allain wasted little time before jamming. Kabrhel immediately called off his last 20,000 or so.

After another table's showdown was finished, each player tabled his cards.

Allain: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Kabrhel: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

Kabrhel said Allain had gotten a lucky river since Kabrhel had him freerolled. The bubble moves on.

Another Three Doubles on Three Tables

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Another hand was all but done and three players were waiting for their fate on different tables.

Hand 1

Walter Treccarichi shoved for the last 9,800 and Martin Kabrhel called in the big blind. Lots of chat emerged and Treccarichi said he had pocket sixes, Kabrhel jokingly replied "I have sevens." Once the other tables were finished and the camera crew in place, the cards were turned over.

Walter Treccarichi: {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}
Martin Kabrhel: {J-Spades}{2-Spades}

The board ran out {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and Treccarichi doubled with a flopped full house.

Hand 2

On the river of a board {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} with almost 100,000 in the middle, Nino Ullmann had pushed against Kiryl Radzivonau and the latter called all in from one seat over for 101,800.

Kiryl Radzivonau: {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}
Nino Ullmann: {9-Spades}{6-Clubs}

Ullmann had bluffed with a missed straight draw and Radzivonau had rivered a full house to double.

Hand 3

Jonathan Abdellatif raised and then called the shove of Jason Wheeler for 59,100.

Jason Wheeler: {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Jonathan Abdellatif: {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}

"Any jacks out there?" Abdellatif asked, but the board came {A-Clubs}{8-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{5-Spades} instead.
