Panyak Busts Bou Habib to Join the Chip Leaders

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Maxim Panyak
Maxim Panyak

In a hand between Andrei Boghean and Walid Bou Habib, the latter three-bet the former to 12,500 and both peeled a flop. The {Q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop went check-check, Boghean bet 19,000 on the {7-Spades} turn and Bou Habib called. On the {5-Spades} river, Boghean shoved and Bou Habib snap-called for 49,500 total with {K-Spades}{10-Spades} to double up.

However, Bou Habib was gone shortly after, while Maxim Panyak was sitting behind a massive stack that is nearing half a million. According to Stefan Huber, Bou Habib had raised and picked up two callers in Arianna Son and Panyak in the blinds.

On a flop of {K-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}, action checked to Bou Habib and he continued for 5,500. Son called and Panyak check-raised to 24,500. Bou Habib made it 65,000 to go in order to force our Son, then called the shove of Panyak with the {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. The Main Event finalist from last year turned over {K-}{2-} for flopped two pair and two bricks later Panyak had the busy task to integrate even more chips into the growing tower right in front of him.

Demirdjian Retakes the Lead

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Maria Lampropulos raised to 4,500 and was called by Vlad Darie from one seat over and Tomas Jozonis in the big blind. On the {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop, Jozonis checked and subsequently folded to a bet of 6,000 by Lampropulos and a call by Darie. Both remaining players ended up checking down the {5-Hearts} turn and the {10-Hearts} river and Lampropulos tabled {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} as winning hand.

A few tables over, Day 1a chip leader Mark Demirdjian moved into the top spot again and crossed half a million in chips. On the tail end of a hand between him and Michael Glick, he bet the {8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} river and Glick called before mucking to the {Q-Spades}{J-Spades} of Demirdjian.

D'Anselmo Doubles Through Butba

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Down to his last 55,000, Nicola D'Anselmo moved all in with the {A-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and table neighbor Said Butba looked him up with the {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. The board came {J-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Spades}{K-Spades}{A-Hearts} and D'Anselmo doubled.

Brian Altman open-shoved for 15 big blinds first to act and Alan Rocamora Garcia called for just 15,000.

Alan Rocamora Garcia: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Brian Altman: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

The board ran out {A-Clubs}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and Gary Miller, who sat next to Rocamora Garcia, said "Good game, it was nice playing with you."

The Kicker Plays for Gruissem

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

David Tovar Lasierra raised to 4,000 on the button and Nikola Damcevski called out of the small blind with very few chips behind. Philipp Gruissem three-bet to 16,000 and Lasierra folded, Damcevski moved all in for 21,000 and was called instantly.

Nikola Damcevski: {A-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Philipp Gruissem: {A-Diamonds}{6-Spades}

The minor kicker advantage proved to be crucial as the board ran out {K-Spades}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} to eliminate Damcevski.

Tovar Lasierra Missing

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Only a few minutes after being involved in the last casualty, albeit with just a minor role, David Tovar Lasierra has experienced the same fate. Ekrem Sanioglu had limped along with another player and Lasierra raised to 9,000, then picked up two callers according to Romain Lewis on the same table.

On an {8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop, Sanioglu with {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and Lasierra with pocket jacks clashed and Sanioglu spiked a king on the turn to score the knockout.

Miller Bluffs Saout off a Big One

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Gary Miller
Gary Miller

With the pot already up to over 150,000, Antoine Saout and Gary Miller were clashing in a hefty pot with the {4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{J-Spades}{7-Spades} fully completed. Saout checked to Miller, who shipped it in for 182,000 total.

The Frenchman agonized over his decision and had to use up all of his four time extensions to come to a decision. With mere seconds left in his final bit of extra time, Saout opted to throw away his hand.

Miller calmly showed {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for the bluff to rake in the massive pot. Saout appeared unfazed, but this one had to sting for the two-time WSOP Main Event final tablist as he is now without timebank as well.
