As with the majority of high-roller tournaments, the start has been delayed for a few minutes to allow for enough players to register. There are currently a total of 19 entries showing on the tournament clock.
One of the most anticipated events on the schedule for the 2019 PokerStars EPT Barcelona festival is set to kick off shortly at 12:30 pm local time. The €100,000 EPT Barcelona Super High Roller boasts the largets tournament buy-in and holds a level of prestige, unlike many others.
Some of the best players from all over the world will gather at Casino Barcelona this week and many of them are expected to take part in this fantastic event. With tournament organizers expecting record attendance numbers this year, there will be no surprise to see millions of dollars up for grabs.
In 2018, Mikita Badziakouski captured the title along with over €1,650,000 as part of his career season. Badziakouski is no stranger to high-roller tournaments anymore and he will be back to defend his title. Badziakouski defeated Ahadpur Khangah in heads-up action, who also recorded his first seven-figure tournament score. While the tournament will attract some of the biggest players in the game, many recreational businessmen will also be around to try their luck with such high stakes on the table.
To get things rolling, each player will begin with a starting stack of 250,000 chips and six time bank cards of 30 seconds apiece. The shot clock will be in play from the start of the tournament with 30 seconds to complete each action. The blinds will begin at 500/1,000 and a 1,000 big blind ante for the opening two levels. The levels will be 60 minutes in length and a total of eight levels are on tap for the first day of play.
There will be a 20-minute break after every two levels with no dinner break scheduled for today. Late registration will remain open until the end of level eight and with an unlimited re-entry option, the chips are expected to be flying right from the start.
