Jean-Noel Thorel was all in for around 25,000 against Alexander Uskov.

Jean-Noel Thorel: {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}
Alexander Uskov: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The flop came {7-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{4-Spades} giving no help to Thorel. The turn was the {k-Hearts} and the Frenchman got to his feet, drawing dead. The river was the {4-Clubs} and that confirmed his elimination.

Maria Konnikova

We’d bet there aren’t many poker players at this European Poker Tour stop in Monte Carlo with a story as interesting as Maria Konnikova’s. The psychology PhD, New York Times best-selling author and PokerStars Ambassador is back in Monte Carlo for her third time, marking the two-year anniversary since she started playing poker from scratch.

We caught up with Konnikova in Monaco to talk about her study regime, the powerful poker minds she mines, and how the writing of her highly anticipated new book, The Biggest Bluff, has been balanced with her poker grind.

Watson Jams on Takahashi

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

With a little over 25,000 in the middle and the board reading {8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}, Keiji Takahashi and Mike Watson both checked the turn.

The river was the {8-Clubs} and Takahashi led out for a bet of 22,000 in the hijack. Watson thought for a minute before jamming all in for 68,600 on the button. Takahashi used up a time bank as well but elected to lay his hand down.

Note to Self: The Fish Pay Everything

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Jack Sinclair
Jack Sinclair

On a {8-Spades}{j-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} board, Jack Sinclair checked and Philipp Gruissem bet 21,000 into a pot of only just over that.

Sinclair used two time extensions before calling. Gruissem hung his head and mucked his hand, allowing Sinclair to take down the pot.

"Never bluff the fish," said Sinclair.

"Now you have two fish at the table!" said tablemate Imad Derwiche. "The fish pay everything!"

"Everything," reiterated Sinclair.

Aido Still Running Hot

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Sergio Aido
Sergio Aido

Steve O'Dwyer raised it up from the cutoff and Sergio Aido called from the big blind. The flop came {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and Aido checked to O'Dwyer who bet 2,000. Aido just called and the {7-Spades} landed on the turn.

Aido checked again and O'Dwyer barrelled another 11,000. Aido wasn't going anywhere yet as he made the call to see the {k-Diamonds} on the river. Aido checked for the third time and O'Dwyer announced a bet of 37,000. Aido instantly splashed in some chips to call and O'Dwyer turned over {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}. Aido, however, had one hand better with {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and stacked up another healthy pot.
