Der Megreditchian's Aces Cracked Just Before Bubble

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Seven spots left from the money, Jacques Der Megreditchian got it all in for his final fourteen big blinds in a blind-on-blind confrontation with Philippe Narboni. It was a setup: Narboni had found {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} in the small blind, but Der Megreditchian held {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} for a true big blind special.

Unfortunately for the Frenchman, the window card was the {q-Clubs} followed by {9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Spades} to leave him empty-handed in this tournament.

Tamer Kamel on the Up

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Tamer Kamel
Tamer Kamel

Tamer Kamel has been chipping away, building from where he started the day on. Just now he took a small pot against Sam Greenwood on a {4-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} flop, Kamel bet 7,000, which Greenwood called and there was no further action on the {6-Diamonds} turn or {6-Diamonds} river. The Brit is now close to average after that hand.

Dario Sammartino

Dario Sammartino his table was moved to the featured table and he played a hand against Day 1b chip leader Sylvain Mazza.

Sammartino raised with {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds} from middle position and Mazza three-bet to 17,000 from the cutoff holding {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}. The action folded back to Sammartino and he went for the four-bet to 42,000. Mazza called and they went to the flop.

The flop fell {10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Sammartino continued with a bet of 35,000. Mazza went for the raise to 75,000 with his overpair of queens. Sammartino then went on to three-bet all in for 273,000 and the decision was back at Mazza. He thought about it for several minutes before he threw his overpair into the muck.

Moreira de Melo Gets Runner-Runnered

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Fatima Moreira de Melo
Fatima Moreira de Melo

Danilo Velasevic raised to 8,000 from under the gun, Massimo Mosele three-bet to 17,500 on the button, Fatima Moreira de Melo cold-called from the big blind and Velasevic also called. The flop came {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and after two checks Mosele bet 23,000, which only the Dutch Olympian called.

The {10-Hearts} on the turn went check-check, followed by the {k-Diamonds} on the river which brought four to a straight. Moreira de Melo bet 20,000 and, with trembling hands, Mosele came along with the call.

The PokerStars ambassador showed {q-Clubs}{q-Spades} for a set of queens but lost against Mosele's {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}, which had backdoored into a straight.

Palumbo Shoves on Deyra

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Rocco Palumbo (right)
Rocco Palumbo (right)

Rocco Palumbo opened with an under-the-gun raise to 6,500 and Ivan Deyra called from middle position. Everyone else still to act folded and they went to the flop.

The {j-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop was dealt and Palumbo checked to Deyra who took over the betting with a bet of 8,000. Palumbo called and the turn was the {2-Clubs}.

Both players checked on the turn and the {4-Hearts} river came down. Palumbo decided to shove all in for effectively 68,500 which was about twice the size of the pot.

Deyra tanked for two minutes but the pot was awarded to Palumbo when he got out of the way.

Yan Eliminated by Macnamara

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Jinghan Yan pushed his last 49,000 to the middle with {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades} when it folded to him on the button. Fionn Macnamara called from the big blind with {a-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} when the player in the small blind got out of the way.

The board ran out {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and that was all she wrote for Yan in the EPT Monte Carlo Main Event.

Deyra Sticks Around

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Ivan Deyra
Ivan Deyra

Ivan Deyra opened to 6,000 and only Artur Martirosian called from the button. The flop fell {3-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{a-Hearts} and Deyra continued with a 5,500 bet. Martirosian called and they went to the turn.

It was the {2-Hearts} and Deyra slowed down, checking to Martirosian who put 12,000 over the line. Deyra wasn't going away just yet though and he made the call.

The river was the {a-Diamonds} and this time it went check-check. When Deyra turned over {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}, Martirosian sent his cards into the muck and Deyra got a much-needed boost.

Vogelsang Doubles Through Kisacikoglu

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

On the former feature table, Jerome Ruefenacht opened to 7,500 and Orpen Kisacikoglu three-bet from one seat over on the button to 22,000. Christoph Vogelsang four-bet all in for 77,500 and Ruefenacht folded, while Kisacikoglu asked for a count and made the call.

Christoph Vogelsang: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Orpen Kisacikoglu: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

On a board of {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{j-Hearts}, Kisacikoglu only found one jack and that was not enough to send Vogelsang to the rail.
