Schwippert Waits for the River

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante
Jan-Eric Schwippert
Jan-Eric Schwippert

There was a raise to 1,000 from middle position and Jan-Eric Schwippert was the only player to call from the button. The monotone flop of {a-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Spades} hit the felt and Schwippert was faced with a bet of 1,200 which he called.

The turn was the {j-Clubs} and Schwippert was looking at another bet of 3,000. He still called and the {8-Clubs} paired the board on the river. Faced with a third barrel of 8,000, Schwippert used a time extension before dropping in a raise to 20,000. His opponent thought for a moment but decided to send his cards to the muck.

A Couple Fun Hands

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante
Uri Reichenstein
Uri Reichenstein

Hand #1:

Uri Reichenstein opened the action with a raise to 1,000 in the cutoff and received calls from both Jiayu Ruan in the small blind and Tom Kunze, who defended his big blind. All three players checked the flop {4-Spades}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs}.

The turn came {j-Clubs} and Ruan led out with a bet of 1,800. Both Kunze and Reichenstein called. The river fell {j-Spades} and Ruan checked to put action onto Kunze, who fired out a bet of 8,000. Reichenstein went into the tank, using one of his time extensions and a handful of seconds before tossing in a call. Ruan quickly called behind.

All three players tabled their hands at almost exactly the same time. Kunze showed {q-Spades}{j-Hearts} and Reichenstein {q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} to both have the same three-of-a-kind hand. However, neither was good to the full house with {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts} that Ruan turned over. Another player at the table mentioned about Reichenstein and Kunze chopping, resulting in some laughter as both Reichenstein and Kunze stated in near unison, "No chop this time!"

Hand #2:

On the following hand, under the gun raised to 900 and Reichenstein three-bet to 3,000 in the hijack. The original opener asked to see Reichenstein's stack and then four-bet to 9,700. Reichenstein thought for a couple of moments and then shoved the last of his chips into the middle.

The under-the-gun player asked for a count and Reichenstein's stack was totaled to be 26,200 The player went into the tank, using one time extension as he made the decision to let his hand go to earn Reichenstein the pot with his preflop five-bet shove.

Bujtas Delivers a Pile, Shows a Spade

Level 3 : 100/300, 300 ante

The board read {k-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} with over 12,000 already in the middle in a three-way pot. Andras Nemeth was in the small blind and checked over to Nariman Yaghmai in the cutoff, who also checked. Laszlo Bujtas was on the button and last to act, and he made a bet of 4,200. Nemeth called to put action back on Yaghmai, who thought for about 25 seconds before sticking around as well.

The turn came {4-Spades} and action checked to Bujtas once more. He thought for almost his entire shot clock and then slid out a bet totaling 52,000, enough to put both Nemeth and Yaghami all in. Both players folded and he took down the pot.

Nemeth and Bujtas exchanged a comment in a Hungarian before Nemeth switched over to English: "Show the eight of diamonds!" he said.

Bujtas turned over {9-Spades}.

"Nine," said Nemeth in manner that seemed to confirm his suspicion that Bujtas was making that bet with an already-made hand.
