Quads for a Double

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Masato Yokosawa
Masato Yokosawa

Masato Yokosawa opened to 16,000 in middle position and was called by Kemal Aslan in the hijack. Action then folded around to Danilo Velasevic in the big blind and he defended, taking postflop action three ways.

The flop came {a-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and Velasevic checked. Yokosawa made a continuation-bet of 25,000 and Aslan called. Velasevic folded, taking action heads up to the turn {a-Diamonds}. Yokosawa thought for a few moments, counting his chips before announcing he was all in for 93,000. Aslan quickly called.

Masato Yokosawa: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Kemal Aslan: {3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}

"Aiyah!" said Yokosawa, seeing that his strong hand was up against an even stronger one. A friend of Yokosawa's called for a king to pull him back ahead, but the dealer had even bigger sights set for Yokosawa, bringing the river {a-Clubs} to fill him up to quads and score the double.

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Thi Nguyen saw action folded to her in the small blind and completed to put action on Arsenii Karmatckii, who raised his option up to 27,000. Nguyen called.

Action checked to the river on a board of {q-Spades}{9-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{j-Spades}, where Nguyen checked again and Karmatckii threw out two newly-introduced T25,000 chips. Nguyen quickly called.

Karmatckii showed {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for pure air, playing the board, and Nguyen tabled {q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} to win the pot with her two pair.

Gianluca Speranza raised to 12,000 from early position and Uri Reichenstein shipped all in for around 145,000 in the hijack. The action folded back to Speranza who quickly made the call and tabled his hand.

Gianluca Speranza: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Uri Reichenstein: {k-Spades}{j-Spades}

"Unlucky," Reichenstein said to Speranza, hinting that his aces might get cracked. There was a sweat after the {k-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop hit the felt but the {7-Hearts} on the turn and the {8-Clubs} on the river sent Reichenstein to the rail.

Grafton Exits Prior to the Money

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Sam Grafton
Sam Grafton

Nazim Shala opened to 15,000 in early position and Sam Grafton three-bet shoved all in for 127,000 in the small blind. Shala asked for a count and then flicked in a chip to call.

Nazim Shala: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Sam Grafton: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

Grafton wasn't feeling too confident after seeing the cards but Shala ensured him that he still had some hope with two outs. However, the flop of {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} gave Shala a set of nines and Grafton was nearly drawing dead. The {j-Clubs} on the turn locked up the pot for Shala and Grafton exited after the {j-Spades} on the river.

Karmatckii Shows Two Aces

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Action was three ways on a flop of {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}{q-Hearts} with Arsenii Karmatckii first to act in early position. He checked to Sam Grafton in middle position, who bet 10,500. Action was then on Nazim Shala, who was on the button and folded. Karmatckii then called.

The turn came {j-Clubs} and Shala checked. Grafton thought for a few moments and checked behind, bringing the river {j-Diamonds}. Karmatckii checked again and Grafton wasted no time tapping the felt to check behind and take the hand to showdown.

Karmatckii tabled {a-Hearts}{a-Spades} for two pair, aces and kings, good to earn him the pot as Grafton sent his cards to the center of the table in a face-down manner.

Fattahi bet 47,000 and his opponent tanked before eventually flicking in a chip to call. Fattahi showed {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} and took down the pot.

"How many aces have there been at this table?" asked Daniel Dvoress aloud.

"What do you expect?" replied tablemate Matthias Eibinger. "It's a Stars event after all!"
