Grospellier Calls with Ace-High

Level 15 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

There's been a lot of small-pot poker being played as a big money bubble looms. Jean-Noel Thorel raised to 50,000 in early position and Bertrand Grospellier called on his left. The two players headed to a flop of {k-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and they both checked.

The {10-Hearts} landed on the turn and both players knuckled the table again. The {k-Clubs} paired the board on the river and Thorel made a small bet of 50,000. Grospellier called and Thorel showed {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for air. Grospellier tabled {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} to scoop the pot with ace-high.

Another Double For Grospellier

Level 15 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Yuan Li opened to 50,000 and got calls from Jean-Noel Thorel and Bertrand Grospellier in the blinds.

Thorel bet 100,000 on the {6-Spades}{j-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop and Grospellier moved all in for 240,000. Li thought about it before folding. Thorel snap-called with {j-Spades}{10-Hearts} for top pair, but was behind to the two pair of Grospellier.

The {9-Clubs}{4-Clubs} runout didn't change anything and Grospellier scored yet another double up.

Mateos Doubles Through Chidwick

Level 15 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Adrian Mateos
Adrian Mateos

On a {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}{2-Spades} flop Stephen Chidwick checked and Adrian Mateos bet 40,000. Chidwick check-raised to 80,000 and Mateos re-raised to 240,000.

Chidwick announced all in and Mateos called for his last 1,170,000.

Stephen Chidwick: {j-Spades}{6-Spades}
Adrian Mateos: {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

It was a top two versus a flush draw, but the flush draw was irrelevant once the {10-Hearts} gave Mateos a full house. The river was the {4-Hearts} and the Spaniard doubled up.

Chidwick Gives Up on the River

Level 15 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Stephen Chidwick raised to 50,000 in the cutoff and Steve O'Dwyer called from the big blind. The flop came {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and O'Dwyer check-called a bet of 100,000 from Chidwick.

The {a-Clubs} paired the board on the turn and O'Dwyer checked again. Chidwick counted out another bet of 240,000 and O'Dwyer still called. The {5-Spades} completed the board and both players knuckled the table. O'Dwyer tabled {a-Spades}{3-Spades} for a full house and Chidwick conceded.

The turn was the {9-Clubs} and Thorel checked again. Davies fired out another bet of 70,000 and Thorel check-raised to 175,000 this time. Davies thought for a moment but decided to send his cards to the muck.

Since the elimination of Sam Greenwood, Bertrand Grospellier has been drifting at the bottom of the counts. He three-bet all in for 170,000 after Jean-Noel Thorel opened, and Thorel called.

Bertrand Grospellier: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Jean-Noel Thorel: {a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}

The board came {4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{9-Spades}{q-Hearts} offering no worries to Grospellier who doubled up.

The {9-Diamonds} paired the board on the turn and Mateos led out with a bet of 85,000. O'Dwyer called and the {q-Spades} completed the board. Mateos reached back for a bet of 444,000 this time and O'Dwyer dropped in a call. Mateos flipped over {9-Spades}{8-Spades} for trip nines and O'Dwyer couldn't beat it.

Greenwood Rivered From the Tournament by Li

Level 14 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Sam Greenwood
Sam Greenwood

Yuan Li opened to 45,000 and short-stack Sam Greenwood three-bet all in for around 170,000 from the big blind. Li called.

Yuan Li: {a-Clubs}{5-Spades}
Sam Greenwood: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

The {2-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} flop changed nothing but the {3-Hearts} turn did give Li a gutshot straight draw and a chance at knocking out Greenwood. In the end, the {5-Diamonds} did just that and Greenwood would bust short of the money.
