No Final Table for Merzhvinskiy This Time

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Aleksandr Merzhvinskiy
Aleksandr Merzhvinskiy

The board read {4-Clubs}{7-Spades}{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} when Ranno Sootla had defended his big blind after Aleksandr Merzhvinskiy had opened from the middle position. After a check-call on the flop and a check on the turn, Merzhvinskiy shoved and Sootla called with the slightly bigger stack.

Aleksandr Merzhvinskiy: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Ranno Sootla: {j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

Merzhvinskiy had the overpair while Sootla had turned a straight to leave Merzhvinskiy drawing dead.

The river completed the board with the {10-Diamonds} as a formality as Merzhvinskiy was sent to the rail, missing out on a final table as he finished in third place right here in Prague last year for €631,500.

Chip and a Chair for Di Giacomo

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Roman Herold raised the button and instantly called the shove of Claudio Di Giacomo in the big blind.

Roman Herold: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Claudio Di Giacomo: {j-Spades}{8-Spades}

Herold flopped middle set while Di Giacomo had a gutshot straight flush draw on the {j-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Spades} flop. Nothing changed on the {4-Diamonds} turn and {q-Hearts} river to let Herold.

Di Giacomo was down to 3,000 and forced all-in the next hand out of the small blind. Herold raised to 25,000 from the cutoff and was called by Boris Kuzmanovic on the button and Giuseppe Zarbo in the big blind. The active players checked down the {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} board.

Di Giacomo tabled {k-Clubs}{7-Hearts} and survived, as Zarbo won the bigger side pot with {q-Hearts}{9-Clubs} against the {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs} of Herold and the {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} of Kuzmanovic.

Aleksandr Sheshukov: {k-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

Kemal Aslan
Kemal Aslan

With the chip leaders currently approaching two million, Norbert Szecsi has become the latest player to ascend to the upper echelons of the leaderboard with the elimination of Kemal Aslan.

Aslan was all in for around 250,000 with {a-}{2-} and was up against Szecsi holding {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

The board came {6-Hearts}{3-Spades}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades}{k-Spades} and Aslan was eliminated, with Szecsi up over 1.6 million in chips.

Shaw Eliminated in Three-Way All-In

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Gaelle Baumann and Carl Shaw
Gaelle Baumann and Carl Shaw

Gab Yong Kim min-raised to 24,000 and Gaelle Baumann flat-called on the button. Carl Shaw in the small blind three-bet all-in for his last 288,000 and Kim asked for a count, then moved all in himself for 579,000 in total.

Now it was Baumann that asked for a count and she eventually tossed in calling chips.

Carl Shaw: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Gab Yong Kim: {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Gaelle Baumann: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

Kim instantly flopped a full house on {q-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and Shaw was the only other player to have a shot at outright winning the pot when the {8-Clubs} appeared on the turn. He needed the case eight in the deck but instead it came the {4-Diamonds} on the river to send Shaw out in 47th place while Baumann took a big hit to her stack.

Szecsi Scores Big Pot

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Norbert Szecsi
Norbert Szecsi

Pierre Calamusa raised from the early position, Pieter Aerts three-bet on his left and both Kemal Aslan and Norbert Szecsi called in the hijack and cutoff while the rest of the table folded and Calamusa folded.

The flop came {8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs}, Aerts check-folded to the 60,000 bet of Aslan which Szecsi did call.

They both checked through the {10-Spades}on the turn to the {6-Hearts} on the river. Aslan checked for the last time and now Szecsi fired a bet of 300,000 into the pot. Aslan took some time and then made the call. Szecsi tabled {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} for the rivered straight and that was enough for Aslan to muck his hand.

Carl Shaw: {a-Clubs}{4-Hearts}
Gaelle Baumann: {k-Spades}{6-Hearts}

Gaby Livshitz
Gaby Livshitz

Roland Chassing raised to 30,000 from the middle position and Gaby Livshitz three-bet to 100,000 on the button. The blinds folded so the action was back on Chassing who made the call.

They both checked through the {5-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{j-Clubs} flop to the {9-Diamonds} on the turn. Chassin fired a bet of 150,000 over the line and Livshitz called.

The river completed the board with the {8-Diamonds} and Chassing bet 100,000. Livshitz snap-called and saw he was good as Chassing tabled {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds} for the pair of sixes. Livshitz had {k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for the flopped pair of kings.

Bogdanov Doubles Shafikov

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Denys Shafikov
Denys Shafikov

Denys Shafikov ended up all-in for exactly 200,000 on the {10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop after he had defended out of the big blind and he was called by table big stack Victor Bogdanov.

Denys Shafikov: {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}
Victor Bogdanov: {j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

Shafikov had the best of it with the top two pair and the {7-Hearts} turn and {q-Spades} river run out changed nothing whatsoever.
