Short Stacks Battle It out

Level 13 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Rainer Kempe was down to just 21,000 and pushed all in from early position. Nick Petrangelo re-shoved for around 40,000 on his left and the rest of the table folded.

Rainer Kempe: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Nick Petrangelo: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}

The flop of {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{10-Spades} favored Kempe as his queens remained in the lead. The {q-Hearts} on the turn gave Kempe a set but Petrangelo actually picked up more outs. However, the {4-Clubs} on the river was a brick and Kempe scored a small double up.

What Did Peffly Fold?

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

The board read {6-Hearts}{5-Spades}{a-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} with a substantial pot in the middle already.

Alex Peffly had checked his big blind but Joao Vieira had shoved for 53,300 from the early position. Peffly considered it for a while but opted to fold.

"What do you think I had?" Peffly asked Vieira.

"Two pair..." Vieira responded while stacking up chips.

Peffly looked a bit perplexed while the rest of the table laughed. A few seconds later: "You think I'd fold two pair?" he asked.

"I wouldn't," Vieira replied with a shrug.

"Hmmm, interesting..." and Peffly pondered for a bit longer.
