The Field is Growing Rapidly

Level 2 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Sam Grafton was the first casualty of the day but quickly re-entered for the second and final bullet in the event. As the Brit entered the field, more than half a dozen new contenders waited for the table balancing as the field now reached 40 entries.

Quadruple Up for Newey

Level 2 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Paul Newey pushed all-in for the last 11,500 and received no fewer than three callers in the next seats including Tsugunari Toma, Guram Andronikashvili and Lukasz Szymon Grossmann. The {10-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Spades} flop brought a bet worth 15,500 by Toma and Grossmann was the only caller.

The {10-Clubs} followed on the turn and Toma now bet another 19,000 for Grossmann to call. Both remaining active players checked the {k-Hearts} on the river and Newey rolled over the {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for kings and tens. Toma only had {j-Spades}{2-Hearts} for an inferior two pair and lost both pots, as Grossmann won the side pot with {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} while Newey quadrupled up.

Toma Doubles Through Newey

Tsugumari Toma

Stephen Chidwick raised it up to 2,500 on the button for Paul Newey to three-bet in the small blind, making it 10,500 to go. Tsugunari Toma cold-called in the big blind and Chidwick got out of the way. On a flop of {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}, Newey continued for 13,500 and Toma came along.

As they headed to the {4-Hearts} turn, Newey slowed down and checked. Toma bet 15,000 with 33,000 behind and Newey called within the allocated 30 seconds. The {j-Diamonds} fell on the river and Newey checked once more. Toma moved all-in and Newey invested one time bank before calling with the slightly superior stack.

The {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades} of Toma had turned a full house and Newey's {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} ended up second-best to leave the Brit very short.

Quick Profit for Fast in First Level

Level 1 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Dietrich Fast and Tsugunari Toma were involved in a larger tussle as they created a pot of what appeared to be around 45,000 to the {9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades}{5-Spades} turn. Fast opted to check and Toma then bet 25,000 only for Fast to consider his options within the 30-second shot clock and then move all-in.

Toma didn't ask for an exact count as he sent the cards into the muck after a mere ten seconds.

Jorstad Loses a Small Pot to Nemeth

Level 1 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

While Andras Nemeth jokingly said he is "getting to old for this online stuff" and even the one live table would be tiresome, the Hungarian had a smile on the face as he waited for the seat assignment. It didn't take long for Nemeth to take part in the action as he was spotted in a heads-up hand against Espen Jorstad.

On a flop of {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, Nemeth check-raised from 1,500 to 5,000 and Jorstad sent his cards into the muck.

As half of the first level has passed, the field increased to 24 entries with PokerStars ambassador Sam Grafton headlining the last batch of new faces. "I think I am getting my rake back," he joked as he sat down at the table and was welcomed by Orpen Kisacikoglu.

Oya Takes Small Pot Off Kisacikoglu

Level 1 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Following an initial raise by Masashi Oya and the call by Orpen Kisacikoglu out of the blinds, the latter opted to check the {j-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop. Oya continued for 3,000 to receive a call and Kisacikoglu then checked again the {8-Diamonds} on the turn. A larger bet worth 11,000 by Oya followed and that did the trick to win the pot uncontested.
