Peter Tordai opened from the hijack and Giovanny Reyes three-bet in the small blind. Action folded back to Tordai, who four-bet jammed a stack of around 20,000. Reyes gave it some thought and called with a bigger stack.
Peter Tordai: A♠Q♥
Giovanny Reyes: A♦4♦
Tordai had his opponent dominated and took a massive lead on the flop of J♥Q♣9♠ before the runout of A♣J♦ confirmed his double.
Frederic Van Der Mersch opened to 2,000 from early position and Gerald Eisele moved all in for just under 10,000 from middle position. Van Der Mersch made the call with a covering stack.
Gerald Eisele: A♣10♦
Frederic Van Der Mersch: A♦Q♣
Eisele was in dire straits against the bigger ace, but that all changed on the 10♠3♣5♣ flop, giving Eisele top pair and leaving Van Der Mersch drawing to three outs. The rest of the board ran out A♥K♦ giving Eisele two pair to score the double up.
The pot stood at 5,500 with two players looking at a board that read 3♥Q♣K♠.
In the big blind was Arni Gunnarsson who checked the action over to David Docherty in middle position. Docherty bet out 2,300 and Gunnarsson made the call.
The 4♦ turned and Gunnarsson checked again. Docherty barrelled once more, this time for 4,100. Gunnarsson elected to fold.
There was a three-way all in at Table 66 between Cedric Schwaederle, Dodi Yacine El Ghers and Roberto Lanero. Lanero was the shortest stack and Schwaederle was the next shortest with 30,900.
Lanero's nines were still ahead after the flop of 2♠4♥6♠, but the Q♠ had him and El Ghers drawing dead as Schwaederle had made a flush. Lanero was eliminated while a big side pot went to Schwaederle.
Zach Gruneberg, a poker player from Pennsylvania with more than $2.2 million in lifetime tournament earnings, recently lost one of his cats, who escaped from his home while he was out in Las Vegas. What ensured was a frantic search-and-rescue effort that spanned a month and a half.
More specifically, it was a 43-day affair “through hell and back” according to Gruneberg, a five-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit ring winner, including back-to-back wins in the WSOP PA Online Series at the end of July.
Gruneberg, who is nine years clean and sober, is on Twitter as @HustlerGrune where it states he is both an anime addict and cat dad. One of those cats is a sleek gray feline named “Nook.”
“Nook is the only cat I've had since he was a kitten,” Gruneberg told PokerNews. “He is a super friendly high energy guy that loves to jump up into high places and play more so than any of my other cats.”
