Level: 20
Blinds: 6,000/12,000
Ante: 12,000
Kimmo Kurko opened before Mathieu Bonnet raised to 60,000 from the next seat over. The rest of the table got out of the way and Kurko called.
The flop was 5♠6♥K♥ and Kurko check-called a 60,000 bet from Bonnet to see 8♥ on the turn.
Kurko checked again and called when Bonnet went all in for around 100,000. Bonnet turned over 8♦7♦ for a straight draw, but Kurko had the lead with A♦K♣ and a pair of kings.
The board finished up with Q♠ and that was no help for Bonnet to stay in the tournament.
Andreia-Elena Coman opened to 24,000 from middle position and Alex Baena three-bet to 59,000 in late position.
Coman took some time before four-bet jamming a stack of around 310,000 and the Day 1a chip leader went in the tank before folding.
Guillaume Pahon opened to 25,000 on the button and it was folded to Victor Prior Fernandez in the big blind, who went all in for 215,000 total. Pahon deliberated a bit, but eventually decided to call and put Fernandez at risk.
Victor Prior Fernandez: K♦10♥
Guillaume Pahon: A♦8♥
Fernandez needed some help, but the J♥2♠5♣2♦8♣ runout left Pahon best and Fernandez was sent to the rail.
As recounted by the players at the table, Aristidis Theodoridis opened to 22,000 and Ali Alnuaimi three-bet to 65,000. Theodoridis made the call.
The flop came A♠Q♦9♥. Alnuaimi checked, Theodoridis bet 36,000 and Alnuaimi called.
Alnuaimi check-called another bet on the 2♣ turn, this time for 75,000.
The river came the Q♠. Alnuaimi checked and Theodoridis moved all in with a covering stack. Alnuaimi snap-called.
Alnuaimi tabled AxAx for top full house while Theodoridis showed down QxQx for quad queens to take down a colossal pot and send Alnuaimi to the rail in horrific fashion.
Miguel Fernandez Monton opened to 25,000 from early position and found one caller in Nilson Da Silva in the big blind.
Da Silva check-called a 20,000 bet from Monton on the 9♥2♣5♠ flop and a 65,000 bet from Monton on the K♦ turn.
Both players checked down on the 4♥ river and Da Silva turned over 5♥3♣ for a pair of fives. Monton couldn't beat it and sent his hand into the muck.
Petros Karadimos was in the big blind in a heads-up pot against Sorin Flutur on the button on a flop of 8♣J♦9♥.
Karadimos checked on the flop and Flutur bet 20,000. Karadimos called. Karadimos checked again on the 5♦ turn and Flutur checked back.
The A♦ river completed the board and Karadimos led out with a hefty bet of 100,000. Flutur laid it down.
Ilija Savevski was all in for a small stack and Istvan Varga had put him at risk. Varga had J♣J♦ and Savevski had Q♠J♥. The board ran out 10♥9♠3♠9♣5♥ and the jacks held for Varga to send Savevski to the rail.
On another table, Jean Surlemont shoved with 95,000 and Younes Hammouchi called with just a little bit less in the small blind.
Younes Hammouchi: 9♠9♥
Jean Surlemont: A♥K♥
The board ran out J♦6♠J♠J♣4♥ and the nines held to make a full house and leave Surlemont with just 15,000.
Action folded around to the blinds, where Mohamed Aissani and Jon Sataoen got into a preflop-raising war that ended with Sataoen all in from the big blind for his last 119,000.
Jon Sataoen: A♠Q♣
Mohamed Aissani: A♣K♣
Sataoen found himself dominated, but the 9♥10♠Q♥ flop vaulted him into the lead with a pair of queens.
The 2♦ turn and 3♦ river kept Sataoen in front and he doubled up through Aissani.
