Day 1b of the €1,100 FPS Main Event, running as part of PokerStars EPT presented by Monte-Carlo Casino®, has now concluded. The event ran into the early hours of the morning with 38 players out of the 254 entries making it through to Day 2.
Way out in front was Recep Aydemir of Turkey, with 560,000 chips. He is the only player from Day 1a and Day 1b to finish with over 500,000 and will head into Day 2 with a significant chip advantage.
Omar Del Pino finished the flight second in chips with 460,000 and Alessandro Siena finished in third place with 398,000. Serge Badel and Ionut Decher round out the top five.

After several rounds of hand for hand, Cedric Schwederle was all in preflop against Karim Kaladjou. Players flipped over their cards.

Schwederle had a pocket pair of tens and Kaladjou had pocket jacks. It was a cooler and Kaladjou was on the right end of it. The board ran out 7♦Q♦K♣2♣5♠ and neither player improved.
Kaladjou's jacks held and Schwederle was eliminated on the bubble. A total of 38 players have made it through the flight and will return for Day 2.

Georgi Abuladze raised from late position and Diogo Teixeira moved all in from the big blind for 39,000 chips. Abuladze called.
The two players exchanged words of banter as they waited for the hand to be dealt. When the other tables had finished, players flipped their cards, with Teixeira at risk.

The flop ran out 9♠5♦10♦9♦3♦. Teixeira shouted out for his cards, but they never came. Abuladze held up with his ace high.
"It is my birthday, it was always meant to be this way," said Abuladze.
The tournament is now on the true bubble, with one more player to be knocked out before Day 1b ends.

Play is now hand for hand. There were three alls ins across three tables and each hand played out one at a time.

Alessandro Siena raised to 13,000 and Daisuke Ogita pushed all in for 54,000. Siena asked for the count and then made the call. Players flipped their cards, with Ogita at risk.

Around the room, heads are nodding, arms are stretching, and eyes are shutting involuntarily. Those with the energy are prowling the tables to assess the short stacks who are likely to bust. Nobody is rushing to get involved with a hand.
Play has slowed down considerably as the tournament continues into the early hours of the morning. The bubble is now approaching. There are 42 players remaining, meaning four more will drop out before the end of the flight.
