World chess champion Magnus Carlsen is proving to be a force to be reckoned with on the poker felt and more recently added chips after making a tough river call.

In a heads-up pot between [Removed:428] in the hijack and Carlsen in the cutoff, both players checked on the board of K♦A♠J♥3♠. The 6♣ river completed the board and Maloku fired a bet of 6,500.

Carlsen went deep into the tank for several minutes and sat perfectly still behind a pair of dark sunglasses. Eventually, Carlsen called. Maloku showed Kx9x for a pair of kings, but he was out-kicked by Carlsen's K♠Q♥ for the chess pro to take the pot.

Hissou Shoves on Kagawa

Rintaro Kagawa raised to 3,500 in the hijack and Sirzat Hissou called on the button. The flop came 10♣3♣2♠ and Kagawa continued with a bet of 6,000. Hissou called and the 6♥ landed on the turn.

Kagawa fired out another bet of 15,000 and Hissou jammed all in for around 47,000. Kagawa went into the tank for over a minute but eventually decided to send his cards to the muck.

Karam Finds a Double Up

The action folded to Hala Karam in the cutoff who moved all in for 32,000. Romain Lewis was next to act on the button and re-jammed for close to 160,000. The blinds quickly folded and the cards were on their backs.

Karam got it in as good as she could hope for, and when the board ran out K♦8♠5♣Q♦K♥, the ace-king for Karam held up to score a full double up off Lewis.

Adams Get Active from the Blinds

Sylvain Loosli opened to 3,500 on the button and Timothy Adams defended from the big blind. The flop came Q♣5♣4♣ and Adams check-called a bet of 2,500 from Loosli. The turn brought the 4♥ and Adams was forced to fold to a bet of 8,500.

On the next hand, Adams raised to 6,500 in the small blind and Jack Germaine called from the big blind. The flop fell A♠K♦8♠ and both players checked to the 8♦ on the turn.

Adams sized up a bet of 12,000 on the turn and Germaine stuck around for the 4♥ on the river. Adams splashed in a bet of 32,000 and Germaine finally released his cards.
