D'Ursel Takes Consecutive Pots

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Igor D'Ursel
Igor D'Ursel

In the last two hands of Level 1, Igor D'Ursel won consecutive pots to become the biggest stack on his table.

For the first hand, Denis Simionel opened to 300 from under the gun before the player in middle position three-bet to 1,000. Igor D'Ursel flat-called from the cutoff and then Henri Juutilainen four-bet to 4,000 from the big blind. Only D'Ursel called.

The {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} flop checked through to the {4-Spades} turn. Juutilainen bet 3,000 and was called. On the {4-Diamonds} river, Juutilainen check-folded after D'Ursel fired for 10,000.

The following hand, D'Ursel opened to 300 from the hijack and called when Juha Helppi made it 1,300 on his direct left.

D'Ursel check-called for 1,000 on the {a-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop before the {q-Hearts} turn checked through to the {9-Spades} river. D'Ursel then led out for 3,500 and after some thinking time, Helppi folded.

Breive Notches Klein Twice

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

A completed board of {7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} was spread across the felt with around 7,500 in the middle already. Morten Klein checked from the big blind and Giedrius Breive made a large bet of 8,000 on the river. Klein looked him up and Breive showed {4-Spades}{4-Clubs} for a full house to scoop the pot.

On the next hand, Breive raised to 300 and was called by Klein and Alexander Kell in the blinds. The flop came {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Breive continued with a bet of 300 which only Klein called.

The {3-Clubs} landed on the turn and Klein checked again. Breive sized up another bet of 2,200 this time and Klein ditched his cards to the muck.

Full House Over Full House Benefits Benhamou; Misclick Helps Bindel

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante
Luc Bindel
Luc Bindel

Jordan Benhamou opened to 300 from the cutoff and was called by Darie Ilie and Ian Hamilton from the button and small blind, respectively. Luc Bindel then made it 1,700 from the big blind and everyone called.

Bindel continued for 1,700 on the {j-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts} and only Hamilton got out of the way.

Bindel then made it 1,800 on the {j-Hearts} turn before Benhamou made it 4,000. Ilie called. Bindel was waiting for the river card, thinking both of his opponents had called his bet. However, he realised he had missed 5,000 off his bet size. Upon seeing that he faced a raise, he folded.

Benhamou bet 5,300 on the {k-Diamonds} river and Ilie quickly made it 15,000 and Benhamou wasted little time calling.

Ilie turned over his {3-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for a full house, threes full of jacks. However, the pot went to Benhamou as he had the {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} for fours full of jacks.

Big Pot Goes to Sitbon Early On

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

There were four players who went to a flop of {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades} with around 4,000 in the middle already. Julien Sitbon led out for 700 from the small blind and was called by Ramzi Karam in the big blind and Stefan Olofsson on the button.

The turn brought the {7-Spades} and the action checked to Olofsson who bet 2,700. Both Sitbon and Karam called to see the {k-Spades} on the river. With four spades on the board now, Sitbon fired out a bet of 11,000. Karam quickly folded and Olofsson eventually did the same.

Early Notables Taking their Seats

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

The tournament clock currently shows over 380 entries but less than half of those players have taken their seats. Because of the queues at registration, PokerStars has allowed players to register in advance and join the tournament anytime before late registration closes. That has also caused an inconvenience at the tables with not everyone taking their seats at the start of play.

There are plenty of vacant seats in the room as of right now, but there is also a waiting list for any players that are trying to register right now that could take a couple of hours to get a seat. Players are expected to slowly start trickling in throughout the first few levels and new tables will be opened when possible.

Veldhuis Starts By Overbetting

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

Lex Veldhuis was involved in a pot with Guillaume Bacri. On a flop that read {9-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, Veldhuis bet 300 in a pot of 700 from the cutoff. Guillaume Bacri looked him up from the big blind, and the pair saw the {10-Clubs} turn, which got checked around.

On the {j-Diamonds} river, Bacri checked again to Veldhuis, who then bet 1,700 chips on the fourth diamond. Bacri folded quickly, and Veldhuis won his first pot of the day.
