PokerStars Ambassador and popular streamer Lex Veldhuis bagged and tagged after Day 2 in the €3,000 mystery bounty event at the PokerStars European Poker Tour Paris. After a rollercoaster day, the Dutchman finished 19th in chips, bagging 530,000.

Along with him are 21 other players remaining out of the 787 that have started. All of them still have a shot at the top bounty of €75,000, as only one of the two has been pulled today. They are of course also fighting for the €243,656 first prize from the €1,328,456 prize pool.

Leading those remaining is Martin Stausholm with 2,440,000 chips, which will be over 60 big blinds at the start of Day 3. Closing out the top three stacks are Gerard Rubiralta Cortes (2,000,000) and Jan Bednar (1,965,000). Other notables include Christopher Dowling, who is on the hunt for his third final table this EPT Paris, and Jonathan Proudfoot.

Day 2 Action

Late registration was still open until the start of Day 2, and many players took the option to buy-in at the last possible moment. Among those who did so, but failed to make the money are Parker Talbot and Fedor Holz.

The top 111 players would reach the money, and with the staggering speed of play it did not take long to get there. Things would not slow down after the bubble burst, and many players had to say their goodbyes before the end of the day. Pieter Aerts, Morten Mortensen and Andrea Ricci were all eliminated before the end of day, but took home some money as a consolation prize.

Bounties Galore

Of course a big part of a mystery bounty event is the draw of the bounties themselves. Danut Chisu had the best day at the bounty desk, pulling both the top prize of €75,000 and another envelope containing €20,000. A third, more common, amount of €1,000 rounded out Chisu's catch, and he took home €96,000 in bounties, as well as €6,250 for finishing in 28th place. The two second biggest bounties of €35,000 fell victim to Conor Bergin and Aleksandar Tomovic, while Boris Angelov took home the last €20,000 bounty. As mentioned before, one top prize of €75,000 is still up for grabs for the players returning to Day 3.

The remaining 22 players will return to their seats on Friday, Feb. 24, and the blinds will resume in Level 25 with minimum bets of 20,000/40,000 with a 40,000 big blind ante. All levels will be 40 minutes long until the final three players, when they will be halved.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for live reporting of the action all the way to the winner, as well as the other tournaments that are happening here in the Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile at our EPT Paris Live Reporting hub.

Dowling Claims the Last Pot of Day 2

Level 24 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Humberto Lopes Galindo opened to 65,000 from under the gun and Christopher Dowling called in the big blind. The flop came {5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Dowling check-called a bet of 40,000 from Galindo.

The {2-Clubs} paired the board on the turn and Dowling led out with a bet of 100,000. Galindo called and the {k-Clubs} completed the board. Dowling pushed out a stack of 500,000 this time and Galindo went into the tank for around three minutes. As the clock ticked down on the end of Day 2, Galindo finally laid his hand down.

The remaining 22 players are now bagging up their chips for the night and will return at 12 p.m. local time tomorrow to play down to a winner. A recap of the day's action along with full chip counts will be posted shortly.

Proudfoot Puts His Foot Down

Level 24 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Jonathan Proudfoot
Jonathan Proudfoot

Luis Celso open-jammed his small blind into Jonathan Proudfoot's big blind, covering him by a good margin. Proudfoot made the call with his 635,000 stack, and the two were off to the races:

Jonathan Proudfoot: {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Luis Celso: {q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

Celso could not hit the board {7-Spades}{4-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{k-Spades}{j-Spades}, and Proudfoot doubled up in the last minutes of Day 2

Jamie Le Eliminated in 24th Place (€7,150)

Philip Shing raised his entire stack but one T-5000 chip from the cutoff, for a bet around 340,000. It folded around to big blind Philip Shing, who only had 100,000 chips left and reluctantly put in the call.

Jamie Le: {q-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Philip Shing: {a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}

Le flopped a gutshot straight draw on the {6-Hearts}{5-Spades}{7-Spades} board, but Shing's ace-high prevailed on {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}, and Le was eliminated from the tournament.

Cortes Jams On Veldhuis

Level 24 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Lex Veldhuis opened from the hijack before Gerard Cortes three-bet to 140,000. Veldhuis called.

Veldhuis check-called for 75,000 and 135,000 for the final board to show {k-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. Veldhuis then check-folded after his opponent jammed as the bigger stack.

Cortes' Misclick Tilts Veldhuis

Level 24 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Aleksandar Tomovic opened to 65,000 in the hijack and Lex Veldhuis counted out a three-bet to 180,000 on the button. At the same time, Gerard Cortes called the original raise in the small blind and then was given the option to surrender 65,000 or call the 180,000. He opted for the latter and Tomovic stepped aside.

The flop came {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and Cortes tanked for over a minute before sliding out a bet of 85,000. Veldhuis threw his cards away and voiced his displeasure of how the hand played.

"So frustrating. So tilting," the PokerStars pro mumbled as he rolled his eyes.
